D Prepared Miata Build

Took a quick shake-down run in the neighborhood this evening after work to make sure nothing shook loose. Even just in the low-speed u-turns in the culdesac I was doing, the car already feels better under throttle. It used to grab and release / spin up the inside tire once the VLSD died, now it's a nice linear pull out of the corner. Nice :)
Can't wait to try it out for reals this weekend. Sunday: why are you so far away!?

My God that looks silly. Hehehehehe.

Must fly to ATL.

Sad thing is, with the new diff I'm having to re-learn how and where to push. There was about a second and a half more out there, probably 2. Tom (my co-driver) managed to get about .8 faster, but hit a cone. He did beat me by .3 tho. Bastid ;)

Hehe. One of these days, I'm totally coming down there. I needs to visit with my friends in ATL!

Yeah, adding some bling (to the car... and another sticker for the tool box :D):

Got sick of the 20 year old plastic tanks continually cracking. Not sure if it's just the stupid amount of vibration in the car or what, but it got tiresome. So... fixed for good, hopefully :)

What you can't see is that behind the lens there's no "guts". Saving grams yo! Well, hogging that one out was more practice than anything for hogging out the driver's side one, which will also have a few holes cut in it to help feed cool air to the filter. I'm also not sure about the black paint. I may get Barry (Jackelope) to come over at some point and put some black vinyl on them instead.

All 4 shocks & springs are, once again, off the car. Got different rear shocks coming, along with different rear top hats to accompany them. The fronts are re-assembled, next we'll work on getting the spring perch heights eyeballed in, corner balancing it at the new ride height (higher), and re-doing the alignment. Again. And it all needs to be done after-hours and before Friday. Buuuuuuuuh....

Just got done reading the whole thread. Awesome project! Now I just need to convince my wife to do the same thing to our RX-7 lol :D

Do it! It's totally worth ruining a great street car for! (2thumbs)

(rlaugh)

Yeah, the car's 3/4" higher now, so I don't think "height" will be an issue anymore lol.

So if you recall, I had rear shocks that at full droop were basically topped out. Well... not anymore. And yes, that's with the 3/4" higher perch height. Yes and thank-you. Just waiting for the Flyin' Miata top hats to come in to finalize everything. Those won't affect the ride height at all, as they don't change the upper perch location at all. We have so much droop travel that loosing a bit in the name of bump travel is not even an issue.

This is why I'm hot:

And this is what I'd look like if I were made entirely of lead. And a plastic box.

So no, it won't be all OMG s1amm3d y0!, but it'll work a lot better.

Just need to align it tomorrow, then it'll be good to go for the weekend.

No idea, we'll see. I haven't tried yet.

lol stfu (hah).
Honestly, that 0.1% is within the "noise" of the scales, so, I'm really pleased. 50.1% and 49.9% is pretty much perfect.
