CX-9 Experience after 4 years

I just traded my 2008 CX-9 GT AWD for a 2013 CX-5. I loved the CX-9 and put more miles on that car than any of my previous cars, so I was 5k over in lease miles (47k in 4 years).

My only complaints, after 4 years, is the interior quality. The drivers side floor mat and carpet had a hole in it where I pivoted my foot for the gas pedal. The drivers seat was cracked and peeling at a seam at the LH bolster. The recliner on the drivers seat was slipping, so I had to adjust the seat back up several times a day. Finally, the silver paint on the interior trim, while I had some replaced under warranty, scratched and wore out very easily. The exterior held up fine, and the car was mechanically sound.

I would have seriously considered another CX-9 but I liked the fuel economy and the entertainment system in the CX-5, not to mention the lower price and lower monthly payment. A factory rep at the auto show told me the CX-9 was due for a redesign for the 2014 model year, and at that time I'll see the bluetooth/ipod integration that I wanted.

I truly enjoyed the CX-9 and would recommend it to anyone looking for a larger SUV. I'm thoroughly enjoying the CX-5, though this time I will purchase a heavier floor mat for the drivers side. I got a Touring with the cloth seats, so I don't expect to have the seat crack like the CX-9.

The "hole" problem is well known for the OE all-weather mat.
I put the OE carpet mat back on.
Other than that, my leather seat is fine.

Most critics complain about lack of power with CX5. How do you feel so far?

I got the hole with the OE carpet mat. I threw it out last year intending to get a new one but never did, and so a hole formed in the carpet.

The CX5 doesn't have the power of the CX9, but it's got enough zoom zoom to be fine for everyday driving, both on and off the expressway. The 20+ on my first tank makes up for anything lacking. Switching to manual on the automatic trans when you need it also solves any power problems. I've had it 4 days and I'm pleased so far. It's easily as fun to drive as the CX9.

I just bought this year. I was going to get the Weathertech mats, since I couldn't get the dealer to throw in the OEM all weathers; but, I decided I'll wait and see if the OEM carpet mats wear out. If so, THEN I'll go with Weathertech.

We're going Weathertech front mats as soon as we get a month with +positive cashflow. I am NOT down with a hole in my carpet. These oem all weather mats are junk, at least the front ones.
