It's so funny to read this. I used to own a Mazda 6 and then a Mazdaspeed 6. All of the 6 owners I knew couldn't wait to remove these ding guards to clean up the appearance of the cra.

Agreed. I was so glad my CX-9 didn't come with these and tore them off my 6, 5 and 3 as soon as I got them. They look awful and do nothing to prevent door dings.

Just wanted to add my two cents:

I bought my 3 hatch from Nelson Mazda in Tulsa, and have used them for several years for service for that car, and I will use them for my new CX-9.

I've found their entire staff to be trustworthy and have never had an issue in my dealings with them. I'm just coming upon this thread, so I'm unsure what the original issue was, but some of the above comments were uncalled for. Say what you will about the products value, etc., but commenting about their business practices with no experience one way or the other is pretty poor...

as far as side molding being worth $100-
I have had my side trim on now since last winter. I installed it after owning the CX-9 for one week and getting a door ding that cost me hundreds of dollars to be repaired by a ding doctor rip-off guy. I park in a daycare parking lot with soccer mom's who open their minivan doors without paying attention. I watched one of them open their door once right into my car, but thanks to my side trim there was no damage. You won't get lucky every time, but if just one door ding is averted, the trim has paid for itself.
