Hey there CX-5 owners.. I looked around the forum for the issue I'm having and this was the closest thread I could find.. I have a 2016 Mazda CX-5 AWD 2.5L Turbo that has a "whine" coming from front end. The whine increases/decreases with car speed, not engine RPM. Diagnosis from 2 different repair shops are :
TECH STATES THERE ARE NO CODES AND THE TRAMSMISSION OPERATES LIKE IT SHOULD
THE NOISE IS COMING FROM THE FINAL DRIVE GEAR AND BEARING IN THE DIFFERENTIAL INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION.
TRANSMISSION WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AT SOME POINT.
I found a used transmission but need to vet it is compatible with the original transmission. How do I do that? The salvage yard says it will work. The shop that is doing the install says I need to confirm the compatibility because the part numbers differ.
The original transmission part number for your VIN is FW7W03000
The part number for the transmission with the VIN on the tag you provided is a different part number FZ7L190906.
Recommend getting with your vendor to see if they are interchangeable.
Uhg... I'm stuck and don't know how to confirm these parts are compatible.
Can a smarter person than myself point me in the right direction?
Thank you in advance..
Chris
