CX-5 Sales Figures July 2017

Interesting list. How could be possible not to see any Honda CRV, HRV or Pilot or not even a Subaru Forester?
Is this list from a reputable source?

This is a monthly list released. List source: http://www.caradvice.com.au/572448/july-2017-vfacts-new-vehicle-sales/?source=trending&slot=0

There are a few missing from the list I've added:

Nissan X-Trail (Rogue) 1463
Mitsubishi Outlander 1143
Subaru XV 1138
Kia Sportage 1045
Toyota Kluger 990

*not sure how to insert a table

As for the CR-V the new model has only just arrived. The old model was very long in the tooth and wasn't a huge hit anyway.
The new CR-V will do much better but it will still lose out to CX-5, Tucson, RAV4, Rogue. It will rank 4 or 5 at best in its class IMO.

The biggest criticism of the new CR-V here is that you need to buy the top-spec model to get the active-sense safety features such as AEB whereas a lot of the competitors like the CX-5 has safety features (AEB, RCTA) etc . even in the base model. You can't even option up the CR-V active-sense package if you get the low or mid-spec models. I think they will try and change that later.

I've amended the table to include the missing ones. Thanks for the missing info :D

P.S - Kluger was already listed

Sales of the CX-5 remain strong in the USA as well. I think they will increase sales by about 5% overall with the new model. Not earth-shatering but also not terrible!

For a long time Honda has taken the Australian motorist for granted, and neglected the feature and safety feature list badly compared to other brands. To get a decent set of features you have to go to the top of the range and pay the premium price. For some years they lagged behind many others in even offering safety features considered standard. So despite a reputation for quality, people just didnt see the value proposition working for them.

That, plus Australian motorists are generally a well educated mob and quite discerning when it comes to cars.

We have almost the greatest choice of manufacturers and models of anywhere, due to progressive reduction of import tarrifs over many years.

So it says quite a lot that Mazda here is always one of the top selling makes, and the CX5 and Mazda 3 lead the way in their respective classes.

Since the late 90's, Honda have made some very boring vehicles. IMHO they are just starting to find their groove again but will be a while before the public warms to them.

Mazda did well in the mid 90's, but then they went off the rails with some equally boring vehicles in the late 90's to the 2000s. They started to get their act together with the BK/BL Mazda 3 of the mid 2000s followed by the rest of their models. The public has had time to get familiar with their models which is now reflected in their sales figures.

Thank you all for the info that you provided. I knew that the list was from Australia, but still puzzled that non of the brands-models I mentioned were not listed.
Thanks @m8te for adding some more.
I see the difference between the American and Australian market.

I am on holidays interstate (Tasmania) ATM and hired a car - they gave me a Mitsubishi ASX. Was supposed too obe an Xtrail....

Well I can tell you they are not even close to the CX5's class.

Vague steering, front end that feels like it wants to fall over itself. And road noise is unbelievable! No-one should ever criticise CX5 road noise until they have been in this car, it is off the scale on Tasmanias chip-seal roads.

A thoroughly uninspiring drive.

ASX is more CX-3 competitor. Outlander would be more CX-5

I'm surprised Mitsubishi hasn't just given up. They're worse here in the US than Honda down under.

Good to know how other SUVs drive in comparison. Thanks for that. Been driving a relative's Nissan Dualis myself which handles like a boat. Feels heavy and the CVT is so uninspiring. Driver seat position is also too high. Smooth ride but that's about it. Nothing to write home about.
