CX-5G

Hi,

I have had a CX-5 GS AWD for about a year, and have recently noticed the power steering seems softer than usual. Has anyone had this issue happen to them or know about potential cause? I have an appointment scheduled with the dealer.

Thanks!

I suppose you mean it takes more or less effort? Have you checked your tire pressure?

Closest thing in FSM that I saw was this.

"Power assist differs between right and left turns.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
Steering gear and linkage malfunction.
EPS CM malfunction.
Poor connection of EPS CM connector, terminal damage.
The steering wheel angle neutral position automatic learning function has not been operated.
NOTE:
If the right and left wheels are rotated freely at the same speed with the vehicle jacked up, the EPS CM may learn the steering angle incorrectly.
The steering angle learned by the EPS CM is cleared when 1 min. or more has elapsed after the ignition was switched off."

This probably isn't anything to do with your issue, but, it's electric power steering(no fluid), which usually means the wheels turn faster/further at slow speeds, like parking lot speeds, and turn less as much when at highway speeds.

Thanks, my guess would be that something is not sensing speeds and adjusting steering accordingly. I have scheduled an appointment with the dealer and will update results when I know.

may be your total front toe-in is bigger than stock. You can do a 4wheel alignment to check the issue.
