Nice pic, really shows off the red.

btw-What kind of gas mileage did you get on that trip?

25-27mpg including driving in the cities and on the way home stuck in 3+ hour traffic. Decent mpg considering it is an AWD, going uphills with some AC on occasionally.

Got it and as expected, so hardly steady freeway/highway cruising at 75-80 mph for hours.

Taken w/ iPhone 5S, trip to Vegas, stop at Chevron in Mojave.. Bored while getting gas

Nothing like the beautiful town of Mojave, was the wind blowing 40 knots like usual? Nice car, we got the same one but in FWD.....love that red!

I just had my three week old CX-5 opti coated. The detailer did a great job with it, and it's turning more heads than ever.

^ Wow that is shiny, looks like liquid! Is that like a clear coat of some kind or a wax like product? How long does it last? I bet it looks so good in the lights at night.

Opti-coat is a "permanent" clear coat. Supposedly I won't need to wax or seal the car for 5+ years (supposedly permanent, but I don't think it's been out long enough to know for sure). Washing is easier too since dirt doesn't stick to the surface nearly as well, so it can be cleaned easier with pressure washing or touchless washes. The detailer details every Tesla leaving the local dealership.

Cost was $450CAD for the whole car which included wash, clay, polish, and coat.

I also added an Xpel clear bra to the rear luggage strip so that the area above the bumper doesn't get chewed up by stuff being tossed in the trunk.

A few more pics

Well worth it if it looks that good in 5 years. I just waxed my soul red CX-5 and it's not even close to looking like yours.

Damn.. for $450 not bad... I don't think I would mind paying that price for all that work since opti-coat cost around $80...

If I was to do wash, clay, paint correction, polish, sealant, wax, and other things, it would take me at least 2 to 3 days taking many breaks in between lol. Not too good at using a DA Polisher still. Have most if not all the stuff to do it myself except missing the opti-coat which instead I just use BF Crystal Seal that doesn't last as long, maybe 3-6 months.

the $450 included Opti-Coat pro which is thicker and harder than Opti-coat 2.0 which costs $80. Pro is only sold to installers, so I don't know what the retail cost is. Total time was about 6 hours, which including aquapel on all my glass.

The key for me was not worrying about waxing it twice a year, which is just hard to find time for these days.

I made sure that the dealer didn't wash the car when I picked it up, so very little paint correction was needed. The challenge now will be keeping the dealer from washing it (and scratching it) when I bring it in for service.

I'd be interested in a picture of this. Is it like a clear bumper protector strip?

I'm away from home until tonight, but it's a clear strip that you can barely see unless you look closely. What you can see are the edges, but not really the strip itself.

It's self healing, so if it gets scratched up, will smooth over in warm weather or if you pour some warm water over it.

It's expensive though. Just the bumper strip was $70. I wanted to do one for the front bumper but that's $400 or so.

3M has a cheaper clear bra, but I don't think it can self heal, so if it gets scuffed, you either live with it or replace it.

Just mention to them no car wash during service.. Other than that, can't do much about it. My car haven't been back to dealer for service, mostly doing it myself for oil change.

Imagine having an entire car covered in "self healing" finish. If there was just a way to eliminate the door dings with self healing door pannels. I think Saturn tried the plastic door skins not sure how they worked in that regard. Better yet just eliminate the careless people who ding doors!

At my 7500 mile service, the dealer washed the car even though I specifically asked them not too. I just dropped my car off this morning for a couple of TSBs so we'll see what happens today.

My detailer says he zap straps a sign on his steering wheel telling them not to wash his car. He says the lot guy who usually washes the car rarely looks at the work order which will say "no wash", so better to leave a notice in the car itself.

You tell a dealer not to wash and then you end up with 2-3 teenagers buffing the dry paint as hard as they can without wax with wide strokes using partially soiled towels. That's literally a nightmare to me.
