CX-5
I appreciate the hardcore engineering in this rig. I hate the tech fluff Mazda needs to pile on to be competitive in a 'phone-y' world! Are there more than 3 of us interested in a performance CX-5 in exchange for the cheap thrills of techy, sugary sweets?

I mean is there anyone else that would rather see teeth rattling long throw suspension, an LSD diff and a manual trans traded off for talk to text, NAV, bigger touch screen, electric seats, no thinking braking system, moon roof, electric E-Brake, heated seats and heated mirrors? Gawd I think this stuff I have to pay for is just cr&p and unfortunately all cars come with it.

If I want to be connected I'll call when I want to talk, otherwise leave a message and I'll call when I give a hoot. Which is NEVER!

I'm pretty sure I'm the only old school car junkie left on this planet, eh?

I remember those days when we can easily to rebuild engine by ourselves on a VW Beetle. When I drove a car, I wanted to control everything on the car all by myself. When I was looking for a '85 VW Jetta GLI, sales manager had to search one for me which has no power windows and locks, and a 5-speed manual transmission. Now I'm getting older and I'm starting to learn how to compromise. Due to less energy and mobility than before, I'm now willing to enjoy convenience. Automatic transmission, power windows and locks, power seats, and even the never-been-used navigation system; all of that now I don't mind to have. I guess that is one of many sad things to become older.

A performance oriented MazdaSpeed CX-5 without all the fancy stuff does sound nice, but the reality is, there is a very tiny percentage of the population that will actually go for a car like that. That's ok though, the base CX-5 hits the spot for me.... at least for now.

I had manual transmission car ever since the '70s. Knee surgery changed all that. I NEED an automatic transmission now. Growing old is a b****, my advice is not to go there.

When I retired I gave up my cell phone and went off the grid. After 10 yrs, no regrets.

Bump the Baja CX-5 in light of the techno/pano fail threads

What if you had a serious performance CX-5 but had too:

use the phone when you stopped driving (to be legal)
learned how to use a map
listened to the radio for traffic updates
used your muscle to roll down a window
had listen to the motor to shifter gears
had to put the key in the door to let your wife/girlfriend in the car
etc.

Too much work?
