CV/Trans/Wheel Problem??

When I turn left/right hard 90> at low speed (1-20mph) I hear a low audible whine from only the right front wheel. Nothing at normal corning speeds. It's not a grinding sound, but it almost sounds like a CV joint or bearing/wheel problem, I'm not sure???

Here's the problem I got a synthetic oil change, 75w90 synthetic transmission (30k service) at a oil change place. I got home <10 miles and cleaned my MS CAI and rotated my tires (DIY every 5K). I noticed the whine noise within a couple of miles of rotating the tires and CAI cleaning. So, I rechecked my lugs nuts with a torque wrench. Did the parked wheel turning to check the power steering pump.

Could this be a bad CV joint? Or is this a bad trans fluid change? Or did I mess-up when I rotated the tires?

Usually, low speed whines with the wheel turned all the way is the power steering but you said you checked that. Could be the lsd, or the tranny since you heard it after the change. I doubt it's the cv joint since they tend to click not whine, and your car is so new. I also doubt rotating the tires is the cause.

I'd put the stock oil back in the tranny( or switch it to something else - check the forums)to see if the problem goes away. That'll probably be the quickest and easiest way to rule that out.

Like mentioned above power steering pump when turned all the way will whine. CV joint is a fast popping sound on hard sharp turns. Jack up one corner and try wobbling the wheel up/down for play and it's a wheel bearing.

My 2007 MS has 33k, so it's still fairly new. I'm going back to the franchise I'd got the oil & trans fluid changed. They might have messed up with the wrong type of trans fluid, since they told me it was synthetic 75w90 and the same as stock. I'll have them recheck the power steer fluid, but that looks good.

I still wonder if it might be a more serious problem. Since I did some of the 30k service at once and not a tech I have a hard time telling...

What does a bad wheel bearing sound like??? I did notice a mild low freq hum at higher speed before, but assumed it was just normal. No wheel shaking or tracking.

If they did put the wrong trans fluid in would it make the low speed whine? What would the symptoms be??? Shifting seems smoother.

Thanks

Jack up one corner and try wobbling the wheel up/down for play and it's a wheel bearing.

I jacked the right side to re torqued the lug nuts, didn't feel any extra play in the wheel.

Since it only the the right front, could it be the steer pump? I pretty sure the fluid level is good, I'll recheck.

Thanks

Did some more investigation on the noise from the right side wheel.

I discovered that someone cut a hole in the plastic engine under-pan. Then I noticed the whole under-pan was loose, sagging and missing bolts... I brought it back to the oil change franchise and made them replace/repair the under-pan.

I still hear the same noise from the right front when doing low speed turns. I still think it could be a bad cv boot or wheel bearing.

Next step is bring it to the dealer.

Sounds like a wheel bearing, you more than likely wont "feel" it loose. Get your front tires off the gournd and drive it up to the speed it makes the noise and have someone listen to the wheel hubs with a stethoscope to hear if it is excessively noisy
