Custom Turbo MP5

Wow, quite a unique setup you have there. I'm not sure if I agree w/ the mani being so long...I'd imagine it would lose some heat over that distance and effect spool. I also don't like how close the intake is to the turbo, and personally I wouldn't waste my time w/ a T25. But that's just me. Congrats on a nice, unique car. It probably does well with those injectors. Do you control timing in any way?

not oo shabby. I like the setup its unique. Personally i would have went with a shorter manifold but to each there own. Also 7.2 compresssion seems a little low. Hows your gas mileage and emmisions output. It would seem that your volumetric efficiency isnt up there until you hit some higher boost levels.
nice job piping everything:D

Nice setup. . .
I wonder about the BOV, and the fuel stuff, but the headers look great and the wrap will keep a lot of heat in. . .

I think it looks very sweet, very clean. I'm jealous.

7.2!!!!
that is VERY low

my car came stock with 8:1 and it runs 10psi stock on a T3 with NO INTERCOOLER

you could crank the boost to all hell and still be safe, I would say try going 14psi or more, cars like mine intercooled can run upto 30psi on stock internals

i understand the turbo basics and maybe even some advanced... but F*ck you designed your own kit. Thats really really impressive.

If you look again at the photo, you might notice that there is about 7 feet of intake hard pipes and on other photos you will see a full front intercooler. The T-25 is a hybrid combination. The drive side is much larger than what is stock on a MSP.

Blow Off

How about your BOV? Shouldn't it be on the tube going to the TB?

The Blow Off valve is to prevent compressor surge, therefore it's close to the compressor. It is on the pipe leading to the TB. The 2" pipe goes down to the Intercooler and there is a 2.5" leading to the TB.

I doubt you'd see much if any relief using a probe transmission - if it'd even bolt up. Perhaps an MX3?

The Probe/MX-3 have the same powerplant.

I wanted something built by the book to be overkill, that would allow me to up the boost as I continued to modify the car with no weak links.

The only problem was that the Manifold is long, the wrap keeps most of that good hot expanding gas in for the Turbo.

The thing I love about the car is, when I open the hood, even buddys girlfriend who know nothing about cars looks over and does a doubletake.

SDS EIC

If you are running a stand alone engine management system, why are you using additional injectors?

The SDS EIC-2 is a stand alone fuel management system.

IE: User Programable Fuel delivery that is independent of the stoock System.

Check it out on the net.

So you mean additional injection?

hey, can you give me the info of the shop that developed teh turbo, I live in Toronto and I am REALLY interested in having a similar set up.
thanks!

I like the setup there. I especially like how the valve cover exposes the cam gears. Was that your stock one, just cut to expose them, or did you get it off another mazda?

why do you say that? porbes came with f-series engines, mx-3's NEVER came with a f-series. they came with b6e's and k03's.

It was not a shop, I did this im my garage myself. The manifold was made in Beachburg On. Close to Pembroke.

I would be happy to help you put together some ideas or things to watch out for that I encountered in building a custom turbo for our wee little cars.
