Custom P5 Bodywork

Just recently got some custom body work thanks to a Honda minivan. This was NOT the future mod I had on my list.

The bodyshop said that they don't think they can repair the damage... so it looks like the YlowP5 is dead. That really makes me sad...

The adjuster from AAA is suppose to call me today... but I talked to the bodyshop yesterday, and they told me that it's totalled.

I'm pretty banged up... some bruises, a cracked rib and REALLY sore neck... but I'm just thankfull that my wife wasn't in the passenger's seat.

I pulled up to a long intersection with flashing red lights. I waited my turn, then proceeded to cross... The lights started working half way through my crossing and gave the drivers perpendicular to me a green light...the next thing I know, I got slammed into by the minivan.

If the insurance company / police try to find me at fault, I'm taking them to court because I did not do anything wrong. I may have to sue The City of Sunnyvale for the way the lights operated (not something I'm looking forward to).

I'm thinking of replacing the car w/ a Mazda3 sport wagon, but I have to convince my wife first. She's an accountant and hates spending money. Plus we just paid off the Pro5 a few months ago and it has been nice not having a car payment. We also paid off her, fully loaded, V6 2002 Mitsubishi Galant recently and it has been good to finally put all of our extra money into the savings account.

Wish me luck in convincing her to let me buy a new car... I don't want to settle for something cheap and crappy... I don't want to go through life being disappointed because of the car I'm driving. Of course, nothing will be able to replace my Pro5... This has, by far, been the most fun car to drive that I have owned.

All the best, Ylow. Go get another Mazda, perhaps the Mazdaspeed MX-5 or Protege? Maybe another P5, this time a 03.5? Don't settle for something you won't like driving, life is too short to be unhappy with something that you spend so much time in.

that sucks...at least it's paid off...i'd grab it from the garage and part it out if i were you...then you can have a nice down-payment for something else.

Damn dude, I feel your pain. I thought my car was totalled for about a week before the adjuster finally got around to looking at it and told me it wasnt. I'm sorry for your loss man, but it'll all turn out ok in the end.
