Custom P5 Bodywork

Ok... that's enough with all the complaining. Like I said B4, I don't blame the other driver... He had a green light and wasn't doing anything wrong by going through the intersection (although I'd think that he'd notice a bright yellow car crossing traffic.)

I'm not gonna use this accident as an excuse to mimic "The American Way", i.e. sue somebody (or the city, in this case) just so I can add to my bank account. This was a no fault accident (unless you want to blame The City).

I'm not gonna take the time and effort to deal w/ a court battle just so I can get some extra cash out of the deal. I'm going to, sadly, say goodbye to my YlowP5 and move on. Sure, I did suffer some painful injuries... but that's no reason to jump at the chance to sue somebody. My body will heal itself (that's one of God's great designs), and the car will be replaced.

As a Christian, I'm thanking God for protecting during the accident (it could have been A LOT worse), and I'm gonna get the check from the insurance company and go out and buy another car (please don't get me wrong... I absolutely LOVED my P5; but it's not worth stressing over a material possession).

ANYWAY... I just thought it would be nice to express my views on the situation... after all, it was MY car that got totalled.

Sorry for the long-winded post...
Good call man. Sometimes you gotta say goodbye to your car(sad2)
I'm proud of you for not going wild and suing everyone you can possibly lay blame on.

Obviously you all haven't realized that in our society, it's every man for himself.

If you want to talk about prices going up on things, take a look at bankruptcy. I've heard of so many people who are filing bankruptcy go out and get all of the credit cards that they can get and max each and every single one of them out. Then, they march their happy little asses back and go file bankrupt.

Talk about prices going up........

This is what affects us more directly with things like electronics, clothing, accessories, colognes, perfumes, jewelry and all other material items. I've heard of people even getting new engines in their cars......

No little insurance claim is going to affect every single one of us. The only person it will affect is her. She has insurance to cover this sort of thing and so does the city.

So don't call me a peice of s***

maybe you should learn to drive anarchistchicken. and maybe you should listen to your passenger drivers when they tell you that you are about to nail an F-150. Nice pics by the way..........dick

yeah and you should get sued because you should have been paying attention. So yeah it is your fault and you did **** up. It's dumbasses like you that cause the accidents that make people want to sue.......

sue for the time you are out of work, the pain and suffering, your lawyer fees, court costs, cost of the loss. I am glad that you are alright but this is the time to crack down the whip and handle your business. You have the possibility to be collecting a major settlement check. I would seriously look into this. I have many friends who have come out with huge checks in their pocket from accidents. Don't be nice, you could have been killed!!!! It is not your fault and someone needs to pay. Just some advise. Seriously though, i've been in a car that rolled, a car that has been t-boned at 65mph, rear end accidents, and some other little s***, but by judging the way your car looks, you had to have gotten juggled around quite a bit. take care.......

unfortunately, this is how most people think when something like this happens to them. everything happens for a reason and just be thankful you werent killed. i hate it when people get into accidents and the first thing they think of is what they could sue for and how much they could get. its BS and people that think this way should not be allowed to operate a vehicle.

Damn!Sorry about your P5!!I also glad your ok.Have you decided what car you'll get to replace it with??

why wouldn't they think that way??? Their possesion that they work their asses off for to pay for is destroyed. Especially when it is something they cherish

How did my post turn into a philosophy argument about sueing other people...?

Anyways... just got a call from AAA and I'll be getting a little over $15k for the YlowP5. I'm pretty happy with this (plus I only paid ~$13k for it when I bought it... it was used w/ only 10K miles on it and it just got advertised in the paper (on sale) the day I bought it.) It all works out, Bcuz I just put new tires on the car ($550) and I couldn't pull the stereo out ($200)... I did get reimbursed for my Infinity speakers though (the only reciepts I could find). I thought they might try and cheat me and give me the Trade-in value for the car. That would have ticked me off, Bcuz I'm NOT trading in the car... I'm "replacing" it.

I'm pretty set on getting the 2.3L Mazda 3 Hatchback... I know that it won't be nearly as fun to drive as my trusty ol' P5, but the prospect of more power under the hood is so tempting... Plus I think that the styling on it is pretty slick (some of you may dissagree, but I like it and it's my choice, right?)

And NO MORE ARGUING ABOUT SUEING OTHER PEOPLE!!!

Ok, Natey... I have to admit... that was a funny reply (lol) . Including the sue aspect, as well as the Mazda3 treason aspect.

I knew that it wouldn't go over well that I was thinking about "replacing" the YlowP5 w/ a, 30% Ford (Yuck!) Mazda3... I'm not all that thrilled that there are going to be Ford parts in my car either, but I have to admit... I like the way the 3 looks, and it's going to be nice to have some more ponies under the hood.

I am sticking to the hatchback... if that's any consolation.

(drinks) I bet you'll love it. Autoweek just named the 3 "Best economy car". That's quite an accomplishment when you think about it. Not the civic, Mini, or even Prius, but the 3! They said that the 3's road-manners clinched the title.

Once you get that puppy, come to one of our Krispy Kreme meets in Mountain View! :)

"Once you get that puppy, come to one of our Krispy Kreme meets in Mountain View! :)"

I'll be there... I'm sad that I never got to hook up w/ the local P5 group... it would have been great to see what other P5 owners did to their cars. It's a shame that I can no longer be a part of the P5 group... I would have loved to participate.

I know that the 3 and 5 groups are two separate entities... but I hope that the 3 group will be as supportive as the 5 group. I don't want to go through the trouble of searching for a forum that's as supportive/helpful as the P5 group.

I know it's early... but the 3 forum needs some work. It may take a couple of years... something I'm not too excited about. Maybe I just got spoiled by the P5 forum... it was the best forum I have ever been a part of... Keep up the good work you P5 owners. Don't put down Newbies... welcome them into the wonderful world of P5, and don't critisize their ignorance. Think back to when you first bought your P5 and were so excited to mod it. If someone put you down for a "stupid question", how would you react? ... Think about it...

OK.. I'll get off my soap-box...

im sure you will love the 3. while not as nice as the p5, it is still a damn nice car. its the natural progression of ownership for a p5 owner that has had their p5 totalled.

Thanks for the words of encouragement protejay5...

I was expecting nothing but negative remarks about my progression to the 3 (I only say this Bcuz I know how loyal I was to my P5 when I had it).

just now found this thread

I just found this thread thru the link you posted in the FS thread. Glad to hear that you got the 3 that you wanted. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. But as you said God was watching out for you. I also noticed that you said the 3 had the side air bags and side air curtain. (thumb) Good choice! I hate when people don't learn from their misfortunes. Best of luck to you.

Dude,
Protege5's kick ass. Even if they are slow as snails. You should take you insurance check and by another one. They are around in the Bay Area for sale. That's what I would do, and you probably wouldn't have to finance nothing or very little.
If you decide to buy one, let me know as I've got connections at a Mazda Dealer and a wholesaler.

Good news and bad news...

Good news is that I picked up my new car on tuesday.
Bad news is that it's not another Protege5... sorry guys.

After test driving the Mazda3 5-Door I fell in love w/ it. It doesn't have the sporty feel that the P5 has, but the build quality and the 160hp grabbed me and wouldn't let go.

Plus I went through an internet broker (do this if you're thinking about buying a new car... it takes all the hassle and negotiating out of buying from a dealer) and was able to get the Mazda3 5-Door (sport wagon) w/ leather, moonroof, in-dash 6-CD changer, ABS, SAB (Side Air Bags) & SAC (Side Air Curtains)... [a must-have after the accident I was in]... , & an auto w/ Sport shift (sorry all you manual tranny loyals... I'm over 30 and don't want to deal w/ a MT in commute traffic) for $19,900. The MSRP for this car was $20,600 so I got it for under MSRP... plus I'm gonna get a $500 rebate for being a loyal Mazda customer (because I previously owned a Mazda... if you're gonna buy another (NEW) Mazda, ask about this... the dealer won't tell you about it unless you ask) and the check I got from the insurance company was a little over $15,000... we put $17,000 down and are only financing ~$4.8k.

I know that you guys will understand why I made the decision that I did. I'm sorry that I'm gonna have to jump over to the Mazda3 side... The P5 group was pretty special... keep up the good work you guys.
