i may consider doing a how to. wow, i totally never thought about that. i already have my valve cover off, thats all i took out.
mazdaspeed777 said:That would be rad, no one has done one yet. I want to do this some time soon. I could probably do it but I wouldn't be sure on replacing the tensioner, plus I not sure how to set the timing.
Boricua86 said:the tensioner is only replaced if your belt feels somewhat loose. that means the spring in the tensioner is not holding the tension. as long as you have a tight belt from before, all u need to do is get the current tensioner a bit loose, and slide the old one off.
and timing is cake. get your number one plug off and make sure its at TDC and then make sure the yellow dot on the crank pulley is lined up to the line on the side of the engine. if not, then go ahead and use a 21mm socket and and extention along with a breaker bar and turn the crank pulley until its lined up. after that make sure your Intake cam " firewall side " and exhaust cam " radiator side " are in the right location. the Intake is supposed to be at 3 o'clock and the exhaust is supposed to be 9 o'clock. so now they are facing each other.
slip the new belt on making sure u don't move anything. tighten the tensioner until it feels tight, a little movement is fine. put the covers back on, install your valve cover, pcv valve, ignition coils and plugs wires, and harness connectors that had to be removed to get the valve cover off.
install serpetine belts and turn your crank pulley a whole 360 degrees to make sure your engine turns over and get the timing gun to make sure the crank pulley is staying aligned with the yellow dot and the marker on the side of the engine.
done.
can't wait to get it done tomorrow. everything is half way off, so doing a HOW TO is going to be a pain.
Runs strong I've had the kit since a month before joining the forums, it's how hiboost designed it and this intake setup had a little more hp than the original, but yeah that pipe gets hot as hell.Boricua86 said:nice setup SLA. hows that working out? i would think that having the intake piping running over the exhaust manifold would decrease the dense air entering the turbo. but if it works, it works.
Its just the stock grill painted the body color. I did the upper and lower grills back before I was even t/c so its started to peel in some spots.DeadGeneration said:dude can you post more pics of that grill?
mazdaspeed777 said:Well sweet, thats pretty much a how to right there.lol You should still do one more in depth though, alot of members on this sight could use it.
Maxx Mazda said:Brian MP5T has a write up on it already...
i couldn't do one anyway. we were in a hurry to get it all done cuz we all had things to do.mazdaspeed777 said:Oh sweet, my bad

but i may need a new water pump. for some reason, it squeels and feels really hot. along with the belt. i only removed the waterpump pulley to get to some bolts. i put it back exactly how it was. now it squeels.
really? what about the waterpump getting really hot and the belt also getting really hot?Maxx Mazda said:Tighten your belts. You should barely be able to twist them 90* side to side. That's how you tell how tight.
Velocifero said:I am honestly digging the camo valve cover! mind if I steal that idea?
