CRX with B18 all motor. How fast is it?

So I have a friend that bought one of those old ass CRXs and put a B18 in it. Car only has exhaust and completly stripped inside except for the two seats. Right now he cant get grip worth a damn so we havent ran yet. But when he gets some decent wheels/tires with might run them.

So question is. How fast could he be? (CRX w/ b18 and exhaust (no headers)).

Just wondering cuz he has a bad modded scion that I spank upside down and he's talking mad crap on how he will slap me good.

My car has a Short Ram Intake with upped boost to 17-19psi and a fuel cut defender. I took the bottom lid off of the engine bay for more ventilation and opened (actually I switched with MS6Mike's) a small hole next to the Fog light on the left for more direct air induction into the SRI. Not much but better than nothing. Weather over here is around high 60s low 70s at night. So it shouldnt affect me much.

Yeah the track (shady) lol

Its a manual. That thing doesnt have a drop of technology besides the Vtec system. It doesnt even have Power Steering. To move the steering wheel when the car is doing less than 5-10mph you literally need 2 hands. Like a race car. Oh, He had a racing clutch too. Forgot to add that.

just remember, if he does beat you, crank up your ac and show him that you still have powersteering and all your luxuries that he doesnt have.. lol...

seriously, from a dig you will prolly win..

Yeah, if the the CRX is pretty gutted, it should weight around 2000-2100 lbs. A built B18 with with Vtec can push some good numbers. I know a few guys that I use to go to high school with EG's and with slicks, they would run mid 12's and were pushing around 190whp+ (with a header though) and not fully gutted.

I have a friend in West Palm that has a gutted 2 seat CRX with a b16.... it weighs like 1700 or 1800 something.... can't remember what he said... what's the weight difference in a b16 and b18 engine?

Karma it probably depends on how well he can drive it, and what his top end is.... I mean from a dig, you should leave him out the hole while he spins, even with decent tires.

But if his top end is tuned enough to catch up to you quick.... that would suck.... but from a roll I would think he'd start to walk away from you.

Remember when mike raced that Civic SI? It had a K24 swap in it... that's why it got like 1 car on him.... so I think from a roll yeah he'll probably gain a car or 2 on you.

yeah that mofo had a k24 on stock Si tires/rims. Crazy. But yeah I think he'll beat me too. meh. I let you guys know when he gets his s*** together.

Yeah, I don't know the weight difference. I just know stock CRX's weigh from around 2100-2200 lbs. And the B16 and B18 should probably weigh a little different but not much. The B16 just has more revs compared to a regular B18 but if it's got Vtec, it'll rev more then the B16.

He will pull on you, and pull faster the more the speed increases. There is something about low weight and high HP that you dont need low-end torque. The MS6 is not known for its impressive topend, while the B16's and B18's are. The MS3 would have a good challenge though.

In this case, "VTEC YO!!"

Yeah. Although F22/20 of the S2k is obviously another motor, one would think light weight and high hp (to power/weight ratio) would make an S2K faster at high speeds, but they are actually pretty weaksauce at top end (past 120mph).

You do have some mods though... like the boost being upped.

So that should help you a little bit... Like I said if you do a dig I think you'll be in the lead til you hit about uh.... mid 3rd or going into 4th gear he might be catching up or next to you

from a roll he'll start to walk away at the start.... just because of the fact he'll be nearly 1500 lbs lighter...

does he have a

They are all b18 engine

Thats my old civic with a b18b engine with cai, typeR piston, light weight pulley and a 2 1/2 exhaust,
My best time was(#761)

So if he have a crx with a b18b, he's gonna stay behind for sure!!

If he have a crx with a b18c1, he's gonna stay behind again

If he have a b18c5, he might be closer, but you will still pull on him even at higher speed

Believe me, i know these car and engine alot.

And a b16 is a b18 with a deferrent stroke

Which one is the B18c5? the last one? How'bout the B18c3?

I didnt know there were that many hehe, ima ask him and I'll let yall know.

And here I thought it was an entirely different engine, and the only thing different is they changed the stroke, LOL

Man I forgot about that, how there's so many different B18 engines....

but keep in mind he said it's GUTTED

so that's looking at 1800 - 2000 lbs.... vs a speed6 that's pretty much 3,700 lbs.

I'm thinking the race will be close for sure.

Maybe you were thinking of a d16 instead of a b16

If he have a striped crx with a typeR engine(B18C5) and some mod like cai, header and exhaust, it's gonna be close for sure

If the speed6 driver know is car, he's gonna be in front for sure.
