Cruise Control in the Sport Trim

2013 Mazda2 5spd
I have a 2013 2 Sport. I fixed three of the gripes I had about the car (Stereo with bluetooth, armrest, CS short throw plate). There's one last thing to make it perfect, Cruise Control. I saw this thread: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5454620-Cruise-control-thought-question-Mazda2 which then brings us to this thread: http://www.fiestafaction.com/forums...plete-aftermarket-cruise-control-install.html

The guy has a write up on how to install a aftermarket CC system. However, I would like the OEM version. I'm well aware I'd have to change the steering wheel, and add the clutch/brake switch probably. But would I have to switch the dash cluster and flash the ECU? What's your thoughts on the matter, and has anyone found part numbers or done this? If it can't be done, Ill just do the aftermarket thing, I just don't want to splice up a bunch of wires and hack a bunch of stuff up. Plus it uses the OBD-II connector, which I would lose the ability to use my Scan Gauge II. Any input would be appreciated.

I think it would be easier to install the aftermarket unit. I have always done modifications so they look like they were supposed to be there from the factory, but with the cruise, it may get well out of a DIY realm. You may be looking at cluster harnesses and ECU programming, different ABS module etc. it could get deep.

Where as the add on unit is designed to be stand alone with just a few inputs from already existing sensors.

I would go this route, make sure it works and then try to retro fit into your car to make it look more like stock.

I've added a few vintage A/C system using this exact philosophy. Standalone and mak it look factory.

IIRC, corksport had info on this. Apparently the modules are all there, you just need the wheel or the controls on the wheel for it to work. Plug 'er in, head down to the dealer to reprogram the ECU to recognize there is a CC module in place, and you're golden.

Since the car has an electronic throttle and no separate "module" for CC it really should be nothing more than add the controls and an ECU reflash. Since all the cars come with ABS (speed sensors) there really isn't anything else controlling the car speed other than the ECU.
