2008.5 Mazdaspeed3, black mica
Hello all,

I am a new 2008.5 Mazdaspeed3 owner as of last Friday. :) Love the car so far and appears that some critters love the car, too.

Check out what I found packed into the passenger side corner under the wiper fluid reservoir.

Fortunately all the wiring and hoses seem to be intact.

Yeah, there was a pile of straw!

I have no idea what made the nest as there was no sign of droppings or feathers or anything. If it were a rat, I would think the nearby hoses and electrical wires would have been chewed up.

I bought the car in Columbus, OH at Mazda Direct. There was some new development nearby and I think the straw was originally intended to help fresh grass seed germinate.

I'm glad the nest wasn't close to the turbo....

I found something like that in my battery compartment. Car had been sitting for 3 or 4 days when I was away on business.

Haha crazy. I had that happen to one of my old cars. It turned out to be a squirrel... I didn't even notice until I had been driving for 45 minutes and the car began to smell like rotting animal. Turns out the little bastard died inside the car (belts + small animals...)

Alright that was a little too disgusting. But if it were the gopher in my backyard...

ever wondered why they call that HORSEpower, there are real small horses living under our hoods! they eat hay!

Here's what the critters did to my car. Damn them! I was doing a bit of stand-around and popped the hood to show off my engine, and there was this big old nest made out of my hood insulation. Grrr.(sad1)
