Cracked rear interior plastic - how much to repair?

I'm looking at a possible used Protege5, and noticed upon inspection that there is some scuffing on the right-side front wheel from parking damage (minor, but still bugged me) and a rather large crack on the rear interior trunk plastic. I've attached a picture below, but the dealer is selling for a pretty low price considering all the other factors ( gr8 condition, leather, sunroof, low km's).

That said -- how much would the dealer charge for this type of replacement or repair? Is it under warranty? Because this is only a 2002 model and still has 3 years remaining. I'm going to show this picture to another mazda dealer tomorrow and see, but I'd like opinions from the world-wide-wrecking-crew-otherwise-known-as-protege5-gurus.

You better check the warranty. You said it was a 2002. I have 2002 that was built in June 01' so my warranty is up in June this year. 3yr/50k. I don't think you have 3 years left.

If you're getting a good deal, go for it.

But the thing about the plastic...ain't gonna happen. I've been fighting with the dealer for over 3 months about my paint chipping off everywhere.

If you cant stand it, just check if you can get the plastic part replaced. If you can, and the price isnt too bad, get it replaced. If you cant get it replaced, live with it, or dont buy the car.

That's the thing--I was hoping for a ballpark answer on whether that could be fixed or replaced cheap. Thanks for the input, guys. If anything it can be used as leverage to ask for a lower price..

if youve taken apart your hatch to install new suspension stuff youd know thats a small piece that can be easily replaced by you without any tools or anything, and if you find the part number, it cant be more than $20 or $30 at the dealership

So is it a small piece or what? :)

I'm more than happy to do the tinkering myself, if it's a small piece. That being said, I didn't get to take a brutally long look at what the piece is and where it's connected to everything else, as I was more looking at the mechanical stuff. Being being the retarded-mazda-newbie, would love some advice if anybody here knows how big and how major that piece o plastic is ;)

theres nothing mechanical about it, just plastic pieces stuck to the shell of the car. go try and buy that piece from the dealer, and pull up the carpet, you should be able to just pop the new piece on

Just shoot your pic to the guys at mazdastuff.com and ask them for a quote to replace that piece. They should be able to find the part #...great people to deal with too! It should be an easy DIY job, so you just need the part.

Found the part at my local dealer, ~$80 including tax. Ouch, for just a piece of plastic, but at least I know now. Everybody was right, it's a quick clamp-on piece which would not need any special tools.

Did you buy it? Because Mazdastuff probably has it cheaper.....

Didn't come to that, sigh.

I actually didn't end up buying the car, somebody else stole the sale from under me, dammit. Anyhow, it's a good exercise.
