CPE CAI Audio

Here is a quick audio clip of my CX w/ the CPE CAI. I was trying to take the video while driving so the placement of the mic is not all that great. You can still get a good feel for the stock BOV.

You mean to tell me just by adding a Cold air intake your car now sounds like this? stock BOV airs out to the atmosphere?

The video was taken with the drivers window down. I just got the car last week and short of the ugly turbo badge I put on it (being replaced this week), the CPE CAI is the only thing I have done to it.

yeah but you said you removed the airbox so now your engine is sucking up non filtered air correct? or am i missing something s*** dude take a picture of what you did maybe I wont be as lost LOL

I have no idea what any of this means. haha.
CAI = Cold Air Intake
CPE = Custom Performance Engineering (Manufacturer of said CAI)

Thanks for the clip dirtyhat! I've been on the fence about getting the intake, but hearing the audio makes a difference. I think I may have to spring for one...

Give them my handle and maybe I will get some commission. :-)

Here are a few pictures of the installed product. The filter is mounted behind the drivers side fog lamp.

Intake 1
Intake 2
Intake 3

Did you have to take the bumper off or were you able to install the airfilter from underneath?

I know this is not a thread about the MPG but, don't forget that adding those parts is going to effect the Gas Mileage...just wanted to put that out there because everyone seems to be complaining about the MPG.

But, it sounds good though... How much did the setup run you...and where did you get it...if you don't mind me asking???

If anything it should help MPG! Better flowing intake and exhaust means that the engine doesn't need to work as hard...

The instructions for installing the CPE CAI kit suggest putting it up on a jack for getting the resonator box out and also putting the new filter in. I was able to get it out w/ no problems and did not have to raise the car at all.

I am monitoring the MPG right now. I only had the car a week before I put the intake in it so I cannot speak much for how it will help power and MPG. I think the number are usually around 1-2 MPG more and 20 crank measured HP. This equates to around 9HP at the wheels if I were to guess. I can say that the car pulls rather well and it is VERY aggressive in manual mode with the RPMs in the 3-4k range.

I did not have to take the front bumper off. Just remove the intercooler cover and a few bolts around the drivers wheel well. The install was quite simple.
