Alrigth im def going with defi thats for sure. Now I cant decide what gauges to get. I know i want boost def. others im not sure. Im thinking about air to fuel and oil pressure. I was just wondering if anyone has done these installs on a msp, and how hard was the install. If you know of any how to's i would appreciate it. Give me any input. Thanks

oil pres was really easy for me, but i had the autometer one, don't know if it's the same with defi...

the only gauge u r missing is EGT and make sure the A/F is a wideband(like the AEM, people seem to like it best)

I think there is a how to...but here is what i did

1- drain oil
2- with the car jacked up, removed the oil filter (nakes it easier to work)
3- found the stock oil pres sensor (it's next to the oil filter)
4-removed stock sensor
5-from home depot, bought a 1/8 T 1 male, 2 female
6-insert the stock sensor and the gauge sensor into the 2 female sides
7- insert the T into the hole from where the stock sensor went
8-install oil filter
9- applied oil
10- start up, I runed the car for 30 minutes around the neighbrhood and then checked for leaks, I also check it every time I do an oil change

I think i have an extra T lying around here somewhere, if u want, I could give it 2 u for free, just pay shipping

I've had this set up for months now, no leaks, no cels, and accurate readings (2thumbs)

Boost is easier, same process as the oil pressure but you don't have to change the oil! Insert a "T" into the vacuum line, run that vacuum line into the passenger compartment and connect to gauge. The hardest part is wiring up the gauge lighting, and that wasn't so bad (check the FAQ or doa search, you can wire the gauge lighting so it dims with the dash lights but I don't remember how). Pic of "T" is below, with pic of gauge. I used a cheap universal "T" and some vacuum tubing from the auto parts store, you can get fancy colored silicone and a fancy "T" too, I suppose, and it'd do the same thing but look better. Good luck!

Thanks for the help how much was the T fitting, i think ill just go to home depot myself. I really appreciate the help buddy.

If you are getting Defis you should get Boost, Air Fuel Ratio, and Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT). The EGT will be much more usefull for tuning and safety than oil pressure.

I was out of the car parts store for under $5 for the "T" fitting and vacuum line. Nice thing about car parts stores is that they carry fittings that are made for the underhood environment, and this one (a speed shop in Ledgewood NJ) had a "knowledgable salesperson" (street rodder with grease under his fingernails - great guy) who's actually installed vacuum "T"s before.

1 foot of vac line was a lot - you can see in the pic that I only needed a few inches to connect to the nylon gauge line and another few inches to connect to the original destination of the vac line before I put in the "T". Zoom in on the pic and you can see that I also secured the vac lines to the "T" using some zipties - what job would be complete without them? usually just press fitting the vac lines on is fine, but running some massive 7psi stock boost (not a lot, but it IS boost not vacuum) I didn't want to blow lines off over time.

i got a quick question about the T fitting for the oil pressure. Where do i get it from, i know it cant be copper so this has to be able to take high heat. So does home depot have these?

i've had it for......let me think.....5-6 months

no leaks, I check it every time i do an oil change and it seems ok

no cracks or anything, my bro doesnt think it can hold the heat next you know your engine is on fire.

lol, i don't think it'll catch on fire, and if it does brake, oil press will drop and will reflect on my oil pres gauge, and i'll know taht there is a leak

i know that brass is a soft metal, but i keep forgetting to get a fittin in SS

someone posted a link for a T fitting from a site for like 10 shipped in another thread, if i find it i'll post it here

ok, apperantly this site carries it

http://www.mcmaster.com/

Search for the following part numbers on the site

part # 4092k11 is a 1/8" Bspt Male to 1/8" NPT F Adapter. This is what you would use if you did not want to use a "T" fitting and just plug the gauge sender directly into the block.

part # 4092K81 is a 1/8" NPT Male to 1/8" Bspt Male Nipple. This is what you would use if you wanted to use a "T" fitting to keep the stock oil pressure sensor.

part # 48805K97 is a SS "T" that has 3 1/8" NPT female sides for use with the male nipple adapter.

got it from this thread
http://www.msprotege.com/vbb300/showthread.php?t=78982&page=2&pp=15

i'll be getting one pretty soon, i'll just wait until my oil change is due though

Hey JCell i was just wondering if you know the pitch for the brass one, im gonna just go with brass until i get the other SS.

i just went to home depot and got it from their tube section

if u haven't installed it yet, then wait for it, u have to change your oil when u do the gauge
