Correct tire Pressure

Now I've always heard to keep my tires around 30-33 psi. Recently I've had a few people tell me to keep the pressure at whatever is written on the side of the tire. On the MSP Bridgestones this would be 50 PSI which seems really high to me.

Is their any benefit to having that much air in our tires? Would it increase tire life? Decrease handling performance?

What's the general concensus?

Factory recommended cold tire pressure is 32 psi front and rear. The side of the tire shows the max. psi the tire can be inflated when cold before becoming unsafe.

seems like 50 PSI is the maximum tire pressure that the tire can take somewhat safely. you will want to adjust your tire pressures depending on temperature and comfort. just remember to check your tire pressure BEFORE driving around. this will give you correct PSI in the tire. remember that when you drive, your tires will heat up and the tire pressure will rise. so keep it around 30-34 psi.

i have a P5 and i keep my fronts at 34 and my rears at 33.

Actually if you read the tire it gives you 2 different PSI ratings: one at 50psi and another at 40psi. So it would be nice to know the exact psi for the tires.

I work at a large tire shop and all car tires get 30psi. Trucks etc.. get different .. but that's how we do it.
