Corksport / Unichip install results

This will be short as I'm beat.
  • Escort G-Timer results. Stock 0-60 (55 deg day) 6.95 sec. Unichip (map A) Green flat panel air filter (80 deg day today) 6.22 sec. For a back to back comparison, I turned off the boost controler function and ran 7.02 to 60. These were clutch slipping runs all. No wind it up and drop the hammer.
  • Getting the footwell panel the ECU is mounted to back into place w/the extra wiring loom is a b****.
  • I was careful pulling the wiring through to the solenoid valve and still had a wire pull out of the male connector.
  • 93 octane on map B knocks in my car.
  • Take your glove box door off unless you don't mind scratches in it.

I would have expected a bigger acceleration difference.
It sucks that it knocks using 93 octane. What are you going to do?
I'm glad I waiting to get this thing.

I need to get some colder plugs, still running stock.

The seat of the pants difference is quite noticable, as is the torque steer in first and second gear. You are right at the limit of traction with the hammer down on asphalt in first and second.

Let us know what happens after getting colder plugs. What happens if I can't get better than 91 octane for some reason?

You're screwed!
LOL!
That would be my best guess.

91 is also considered Premium and in many states that's the highest octane you can get.

you can go to a paint store, get touline, and make premium gas yourself. you can also get actual octane booster for a much more pricey addative..same result though.

hmm, is it normal for it to knock with 93 octane? let us know if new plugs fix it. if it's going to knock with pump gas that kinda changes what i thought it could do.

You have 2 maps to choose from. Both maps run at 10 - 14 psig boost (unless you turn the boost controler off, then you run stock).

Map A is the less aggresive map (I'm assuming timing wise). Map B is a more aggresive map (again I'm assuming timing wise).

Map A did not knock. Map B did. The times above were with map A.

The instructions state that some cars will knock on map B (30% I think).

so the boost is constant unless you turn off the EBC? can you rig it up such that you boost at a lower boost in map A and higher in map B? and do you plan on taking it to a unichip authorized tuner to get that knock fixed? Also.. 10-14 psi? is it a djustable? or diff for each unit or something?

man this thing sounds promising

Yep, want to know more about it. Can the maps be customized at all?

I think the lack of 0-60 acceleration is in part because the other threads stated that the boost rises with the rpms, so the benefits would probably be more apparent in the 1320 than 0-60. If by 60 there's .8 of a second knocked off, I'd say there's at least full second shaved from the 1/4 mi. As far as the knock goes, MSP's differ greatly from one car to another, so these chips most likely aren't just going to work perfectly with any of our cars. I know when I finally get mine I'm going to take to a Unichip certified tuner and get everything adjusted for my car, just as an extra precaution.

so how do you turn the boost controller off?
Our engines do not have a kkock sensor that retards timing, right?
My old Integra GSR did!
