CorkSport SRI Cold Air Duct

I just ordered the cold air duct today - definitely excited. I'll post impressions once I have it on!

I hate to say it, but even with adjusted weights etc.. it's still $40 to ship to canada basic USPS... 8-12 day. That's obscene. I get Two day shipping Fed-ex from Nashville for HEAVY items for $40 from my distributors. I love the part, but there's no way I'm going to pay more than 50% of the cost of the part for 8-12 day shipping.

So here are the rates to Canada for the air duct

USPS Priority Mail International (8-12 Business Days) - $39.45
USPS Express Mail International (3-5 Business Days) - $54.10
UPS Expedited (2-4 Business Days) - $150.50
UPS Express Saver (3-5 Days) - $162.8

Just a for fun the "Ask me about my racepipe" T-Shirts shiipping rates are:

USPS Express Mail International (3-5 Business Days) - $33.75
UPS Expedited (2-4 Business Days) - $127.33
UPS Express Saver (3-5 Days) - $152.62

And something heavier like the SRI itself have those rates

IMO there is something wrong ... (confused)(usa)

Is it just my imagination or does this thing actually make a noticeable difference? I installed last night, and on my commute this morning I seemed to notice more pull, all across the rpm range, even down low. Maybe it's just my ecu getting used to the intake, but it sure seems like a nice difference. I'll take it!

The only thing I'm having trouble with though is the routing of the battery cables. I ran mine off the left side by turning the clamp a little, as there wasn't really room to fit them straight down the battery in front of the cold air duct. It was already a tight fit with just the intake, but now with the duct the main cable is stretched kind of tight against the side of the duct.

Should I just cut it from the harness so I can route it down the front better? I only need about 1/4" more slack and it would be perfect -- I may just put a piece of tubing over the cable so it won't rub through...

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

IIRC, I slid my battery back a bit on the tray and got a little more room.

The intake by itself is good for about 5 HP and the air duct should add a small amount. On the 2 any bit helps.

The airbox dims out heavier than the SRI but it is not heavier in weight. If someone would like a quote for shipping please send me an email Derrick at CorkSport.com for outside the US.

Thanks John ~ that did it!

What browser are you using?

interesting. i guess even though it never showed my order go through that first time it ordered. so i seem to have ordered 2.... lol.... i guess ill have to send one back?

ill have to make sure next time to wait a day before ordering "again"

..

I will just wait until next summer. The price will be lower and anyway the winter is too cold here to have an intake on. But really there is something wrong with the shipping fees on Corksport.com. Someone need to fix that honestly.

this thing is awesome. idk if its my butt dyno but i notice a better pull. no codes yet ive been driving hard all evening testing it. i feel a smoother better pull. took about 20 mins to install (10 of those me trying to find the tools) i really need to dyno soon.

it fits REAL snug around the intake the only part of the intake thats really expose to any heat is the little bit close to the battery but thats really it. it covers the sides and top all the way and i think theres a lil exposed underneath (but thats getting cold air from under the car anyway)

im gonna say i feel a difference. but do note that we are now getting 75-90degree weather in houston finally not the usual 100+ ive been getting all summer so thatll really help coupled with the duct =]

100+ temps, ouch! The ducts would have helped a little bit but I am not sure how much with temps like that.

Its all relative. IIRC, A 10 degree drop in temp of the air going through the filter is a 1% power increase.

installed today.. took about 30 minutes.. pretty easy and straight forward. Again, i feel i noticed an improvement in 2nd gear the most... maybe psychological but the car felt more spirited and seemed to struggle less. Overall, if you have the Corksport SRI, I feel this add on is a MUST HAVE.

Here is a straight shot from the front of the car looking right into the OEM Intake baffle on the grill...

Thanks for posting up the picture of your installation. At freeway speed the duct makes a big difference.

I agree.. took a drive downtown today ( which means a 25 minute freeway shot) and I loved it. I had the wife with me and she was putting on makeup so i couldnt drive like i usually do (formula 1 style), but i will say that with the intake, exhaust, and duct, i made a round trip average of 39.1 MPG. Tomorrow i'll take my twisty backroad to work. I think i'm done for now, maybe small things here and there.. saving up now for some suspension and wheel setup. we'll see.

In the last few days since I installed the cool air duct, I've noticed a much more significant change in pull from the motor than I anticipated. In general driving it seems about the same, but as soon as you get on it, it's easy to tell a difference. On my way to drop my daughter to school in the mornings, I merge from a stop onto a moderately uphill bridge. The difference with the duct installed is very noticeable - the motor feels stronger across the band. I am really pleasantly surprised by this piece, and have been getting some nice audible reminders of how damn good this 1.5L sounds!

I am going to try to get the 2 out on the track again at PIR this season to see if the MPH can get higher on the back straight with the new air duct installed. I am estimating I will pick up ~5-6mph on the top end before I have to hit the breaks going into turn 10.
