Ok so i need a catback exhaust. Should I get the Corksport Power Series, or the Greddy SP2. I want the something quiet, because too loud ruins my sleeper look.
Which one has less drone on the freeway?
There isn't even a question, the greddy will be far quieter in all aspects, but still has a great sound to it. I've owned one, and it was probably my favorite exhaust i've had on my car, and i've been through 3 setups now.
I am leaning more towards the greddy just because it is quieter. The corksport one people say is fairly loud, and considering i'll be catless in a few months It could be really loud.
Yeah, I'm under the knife right now shooting for "driveable" heh
But honestly if i ever want to push past 350 horses, then i probably won't run it on the street, and will get an exhaust cutout if i want to run it on the track.
or talk to ben. Hes running corksport exhaust. And he also sells Greddy SP2 at Horsepowerfreaks....they are on clearence for $459 I believe...a very good deal at HPF.
He can probally give you more insight...his SN is horsepowerfreak
im satisfied with my greddy but it wasnt exactly on the cheap side. with APex DP im probally spent $600 on a exhaust
The piping and resonator position look the same on bothe exhaust. The main difference is Corksport's muffler vs Greddy. Corksport almost looks like a N1 muffler. So its going to flow better. But sound diffrent...probally louder over the greddy version. which looks restrictive and a bit better flowing over stock. Corskports muffler was too much for me. I wanted something clsoe to stock looking.
some people say spending that much for a exhaust that only marginally better then stock isnt worth it (greddy) but as I said...im happy witht he SP2.
The HP claim on the Corksport is better because of maybe the muffler and the fact that it replaces a portion of the J-pipe too. while the Greddy starts after the j-pipe. but that doesnt really matter to you becuase I assume you are running a upgraded J-pipe and DP.
usually 2.5 inches to 2.36 isnt that bad becasue its only a few mm. but you are talking about over half an inch elaspe.
This will give you better torque because of backpressure. And that means better city driving and download performance. but the back pressure will hinder HP and top end performance. Depending on the PSI you are running.
You mayhave to consider either a smaller DP about 2.5 inches or a bigger catback.
Going form bigger to small diameter will cause backpressure depending on how big the ellaspe is. That maybe good for torque #s but not hp numbers. in the end you want your turbo to breath as freely as possible. for all out performance.
I love my Corksport exhaust. Its 2.4 all the way back, with a 4in can. It isn't that loud unless you already have a header. Header + CSPS = EXTREMELY LOUD. However, if you add the turbo, it quiets it down alot.
I just got my car back from the shop today, but its raining. However, give me a day or two if you have the time and I'll record the CS sound for you.
it may, not positive....in a NA car it certainly does. back pressure is important in cars like a honda. I seen people like the professor make more torque and less hp then what unichip claim on a exhaust with a bit more backpressure. 2.5 inches to 2.25 stock catback.
i woudl go for corksport if its quiet. it is 61 mm which is 2.4 inches.
i have a custom setup that is catless, and it goes 2.5 all the back to a muffler and it is loud when i get on the gas! but the drone is not that bad while out on the highway. so i see a lot of people running th cs power series and they seem to be very pleased with it. and once you get your car back this time i doubt it will be a sleeper for very long cause people will start spreading the word about it.
Yeah thats true. While i still had it last fall a celica tried racing me and we pulled over. He had no idea what hit him, and said that it looked completely stock, til he heard the turbo spool.
gboromsp has a 3inch i believe and it does not sound ricey at all. you can hear the turbo so good through the exhaust too! i think it has alot to do with the car that makes the ricey sound.
