Corksport MM Inserts. My first Mod!

I've driven on these for a few days. I really like the feel. The only vibration I've noticed is on engine start. It's a little jarring, but that'll probably go away after these break in. It just lets me know the car is ready to get down to business!

anyone talking about this scissor jack method... just unbolt the 3rd bolt, its MUCH EASIER. I remember trying to pry the thing in there and then looked online and saw you just take the bolt off the block and that silver hangar comes out that the MM bolts to and it was much easier.
Yep thats what i also did in frustration. seemed way easier and called CS and suggested as an alternate method. I wish I had match marked the bracket though because the wholes are a bit sloppy. Car has worked fine since. DaleNixon, glad to hear you like the more serious nature of the car! When the maintenance schedule allows or a little sooner, Try a performance synthetic trannsmission fluid. You might notice a difference. Not very expensive for some reputable products. I used Redline because lots of members recommended. And i knew that I was driving the car hard already. But there are quite a few that are very high quality and are suitable for our cars' 6 speeds. Just a thought as you go along.

Thanks for the advice. I've ordered the TWM shifter bushings and will consider replacing the tranny fluid with some synthetic. Is there a how-to on that procedure?

Also, when I tightened the two motor mount bolts back I torqued them to 70 ft/lbs. I did not put loctite on them. Would everyone here recommend that I loctite them, or is it sufficient to torque them to the factory setting? Thanks!

I wouldn't make a special trip under your car just for that, but next time you're doing an oil change, apply some blue Loctite on those bolts since you're under there anyway.

no problem with it but i would wait a little longer on it. i used royal purple on mine there are a lot of people using redline. i would locktite them as well whenever your under the car again.

I would use Redline. I tried Amsoil synthetic and it's not as good... shifting was no better than stock and it lacks the friction modifier, so the limited slip differential makes a lot of noise when turning. To be honest even the Redline is not that much of an improvement over stock and the LSD still makes a little noise.

I put in Corksport inserts this weekend also. I did not locktite the bolts but did torque them to 70 ft-lbs. I think that's plenty.

I suppose on the bolts just get under there and recheck them. i do crawl back under after a week or so to recheck hardware for any thing i have worked on. I think those bolts attach to aluminum threads. Cannot remember for sure. Do any of you guys know? That might make a difference in loctite used. ericm probaly is right on LT if it is alum. But if they are coming loose at all I believe the blue is correct but check the Loctite web site, I think they still have one for details, on the right stuff for every application imaginable

I'll be posting some new, never installed Corksport motor mount inserts for sale tomorrow. They are blue.

Question for you guys:

Two other MS3's that i've driven, I absolutely loved how the clutch felt and how it shifted. They both had TRZ poly's. Tons more vibrations, but I loved how the car felt.

How would you say your clutch and shifting has improved with your corksport inserts?

I'm not very technical with cars so I'll just describe what I felt when I first test drove it.

Clutch in, first gear, gas to 2500rpm, ease off the clutch, car starts moving very solidly and urgently as soon as I hit the engagement point. No stuttering or perceivable motor mount flex/engine bucking around under the hood, just straight power to the ground. And it isn't more jarring... it's less jarring to me since the power is predictable.

Shifting is just much smoother. No violent engine movement when shifting hard, and it's actually easier to shift in a civil manner when you have passengers. I think it's all about the predictability of the power being put to the wheels.

Trust me, you will not be disappointed if you do this mod. You will be waving your hands in the air with a smile on your face after the first test drive :)

On this last bit i also believe you will be quite pleased. Someone mentioned a long ways back that is was almost like the suspension was stiffer! Trust Dale and Eric on this little mod

I definitely hope so! I should be receiving it soon, so i'm hoping for a sunday (help me jesus) install. lol
You will be fine, another reason why great first mechanical modification. If you run into trouble call one of us I will check up on this thread or pm a couple times Sunday. Good luck!

Black Corksport inserts, installed courtesy of Matt (CWPspeed3) and his highly intelligent father!!!

Taking the stock mount was super easy, but trying to install the mount back in was extremely difficult. We were trying to rotate the engine trying to give his dad some space to wedge the thicker mount mount back in and it wasn't working. What DID end up working was, unhooking the exhaust from one of the hangers and it helped a great deal.

Impressions: Wow....honest to God, this is exactly how the car should have came from the factory. The rpms don't hang between shifts, and I don't have to "try" between shifts. It's actually more effortless trying to drive and I don't need to slip the clutch or anything.

Granted, this was only after a 20 minute cruise, I still feel a huge difference. Only vibrations felt are when you bog in 1st or 2nd gear, otherwise it's quiet even with A/C on. The engine and engine pitch even sounds different, slightly more aggressive! All in all, i'm extremely satisfied!!

I've had my CS inserts in for a week and they're nice, but I still got wheelhop at the track. The wheelhop wasn't as bad, but it was still there. I dropped my 1/4 from 15.2 to 14.9, so that was decent with a 2.4 60'. I know I'm a bad driver, but still. I was hoping for better. I'll be picking up the CPE mount when that becomes available again to see if that gets rid of the wheelhop completely. We'll see. Not too bad for $40 though.

I think wheelhop is going to happen, regardless of the motor mount. Tires, compound, temperature, a lot has to go into slamming a bunch of power onto the wheels.

But yes, you guys did tell me so. Holy s*** I love this mod!!!!
