Corksport Computer....

The only reason they say you'd have to bring it back to a tuners shop to be adjusted isn't due to any special equipment that the tuner would have that you wouldn't, it's that the piggyback is an UniChip. The UniChip has special software that the authorized Tuners are not allow to distribute with the ems. The EMS is really popular with the Porsche and BMW guys. From what I hear it's a really good system. It's also small and compact compared to the AEM. I think the main reason the AEM is so expensive (and badmouthed by tuners) is that it doesn't need a tuner to adjust it. Once it initial is setup it automatically adjusts for any mods you make afterward, and/or can be tuned by the user with a laptop. Atleast that's my understanding. I definitely could be mistaken.
Another series of Stand Alones that supposedly does this based off O2 sensor readings are the PRS Stand Alones from Perfect Power: http://www.perfectpower.com/products/prs.asp

Ok, is one of these computers going to help my car quit runnin so damn rich? I mean, I start up my car in the mornin and give it one lil rev and black sut sprays the ground.... Its freakin rediculous. Plus my car hesitates now with my FMIC kit. So i just want something to straighten this crap out? Is this gonna do it and do they work to your mods?

Well, some friends of mine have a speedshop here in San Antonio and are in Oregon right now getting the "Official" training to be Authorized Unichip dealer/tuner. So I should be getting a Unichip from them pretty soon. I don't have a MSP I do have the 2.0L engine will let you know how it goes.

Well, find out from them if they can program something to deal with boost, or program the car to go open loop in boost and so on. . .some boost solution would be helpful to a lot of turbo guys, and a "correction" for the MSP would be helpful as well.

I'm going to talk to one of the EEC tuners this weekend, and have him pull and analyze the data from our computer for this. Hopefully we all learn something but no promises.

As for the Corksport computer (since this is the thread for that), someone obviously needs to try it. Maybe one of you can "strike a deal" with Corksport and get a little discount if you do before and after dynos (unless they have them, but I don't recall seeing them) and then spread the good word. Worth a shot, but no one seems to want to take that first step ($$$).

THEY HAVE DYNO NUMBERS....25 crank hp with 3 more psi of boost over stock and some "tuning"...on a stock msp....i figure its a nice gain but for the $875 price tag its a lil steep IMO....also they say not to increase the boost anymore and i have to leave the tuning how they did it?? i duno...hopefuly no one buys it and they drop the price lol....i like it but it need sto be around 600 IMO

i heard the mpi tuner has issue slike other piggybacks on the msp also?!?! the ecu ignored the 02 signal or whatever.....i wish greddy would stop slackin and get the emanage to work :(

Depends on where you heard it from, really, on this crazy forum :D. Seriously though, although I haven't seen anyone with the MPI Tuner on an MSP actually post here, MPNick claims there is a person who is running it, and running it quite well and pulling some great times/numbers. It also depends on what version of the MPI tuner you are talking about. The earlier versions did indeed have some issues, but it seems like the new ones work well!

Will ask. Right now my car is NA but am working towards a fairly serious turbo engine. have ordered lsd and have the urethane motormounts, front subframe reinforcement, Unichip and will then do forged internals and then a 550 cfm 12-14psi turbo with a bar and plate fmic.

i tend to like to heard thrid party reviews then from the actual creator of the product...i tend to belive a lil biased......until i see actual testamony from several msp owners...im not gonna think about gettin a mpi tuner.....same goes for the corcksport tuner also(sssh)

Right on. It would be nice to see that MSP owner here to give a review. But for the 6-7 MP3s running it, you won't find a bad review, especially after all of the kinks were worked out with the hardware revisions etc.

Chris

yeh but the ecu is different between the mp3 and msp.....i think thats the issue really...i guess ill wait until someone has reviews from a msp for either system....hopefully mazda decides to finally give us a true "flash"

Yeah, I was just hoping to hear dyno info from someone not selling the thing.

Very curious as to how it does, but I certainly understand why no one has jumped all over it yet. Though I can say people have spent way more per hp than what this offers if the 25 hp is correct. :D
