new member. is anyone using the Corksport 4.388 ring and pinion set for the Mazda 2? if so how is performance and how much did installation cost. it seems this would be a true performance enhancer that doesn't compromise engine internals.

We have not sold many of them at all. I hope someone chimes in for you.

I got it (4.388) and feel the diference. Need to say my car had 4.1 ratio before, so there will be a lot of diference for you.
The bad part. Car in 60mph is revs at about 3.5k rpms

So, I guess we just need to wait for Corksport to come out with that 6-speed transmission... (headbang)

Or find an ultra high 5th. We used to build the b16 gearboxes with the ITR final drives and put the LS 5th in them. best of both worlds.

I'm sure there is a 5th gear you can swap from another transmission to get it down. One thing to consider is our ratio is 3.85 not the 4.1 so our 5th gear might be different from DiegoRF.

Near a 4.4 final drive would turn my car into a little green rocket ship. It's so tempting if I had any idea on how to work on a transmission without breaking it...

We toyed around with the idea of doing that to the B-Spec 2 and start the car in second on the grid to not give anything away, lol

I looked in one of my speadsheets and if you look at the max speed in each gear, a car with the 4.4 and the DT tune with the higher limiter will be basically the same in each gear as the stock car. Down the road the 4.4 is tempting for me. I wonder if Joe can correct the speedo for the gearing change.

Nice! Maybe an STL car would be a good idea.

anyone have an estimate on the cost to install this . my Mazda dealer wouldn't / couldn't do the install.

When we did transmission work an overhauk (which is about what the installation would be ) is around 4 hours of labor. That does not include the removal of the transmission.

Anyone know if a LSD for the 2? If I get the shorter ratio for the 2 I would like to swap in a LSD if one is available. I might look into a phantom grip as well.

I know monster sports has a gear kit for the de trans...they list jdm spec gear ratios on their site.
