Coolant Reservoir Question ?

Is their a tube the connects to the top of the Coolant Reservoir? Having some Check Engine Light Issue and had alot of steam and coolant being sprayed from the resevoir.

Please see picture - I am assuming their is a tube I need to get and run it down so when it steams, etc, it doesn't get everywhere.

Steam? I thought coolant was suppose to cool ,make sure u dont add water to 50/50, when the belt that drives the water pump failed my car overheated and the reservoir cracked and steam shot out and whatever little coolant was left with it. Tape won't seal it. My protege 5 does not have any hoses on the top of the reservoir , where would it go?

No tube here.

Red266, the tube is just to aim the coolant down to the road if it decides to overflow.

The steam issue was all caused by a bad thermostat. On a longer drive shortly after the resevoir was actually boiling. I initially got a cehck engine light code saying it was a faulty ECT Sensor. I first replaced the ECT sensor and still had the issue, after replacing the Thermostat all my problems went away.

Replacing the ECT Sensor and Thermostat were easy fixes that anyone can do. This was my first time trying and with a little help from the free online chilton manual it was a breeze.
