Contol Arm Popping.

Just wanted to make this information available...

I haven't noticed anything like this mentioned on the forum here (or anywhere else), as far as a "problem", or reliability issue.

My CX-5 was experiencing a popping noise from the front end whenever the brake was apllied, and then again after applying the accelerater. Would occur every time, say, if coming to a stop at a sign or light. Apply brake, *POP*, slow to a stop, apply accelerator from stop *POP*.

Was actually mostly subtle, but could be felt in the steering wheel/column and even a tad in the brake pedal. I thought maybe it was a piston siezing in the brake caliper at first. Ruled that out, then maybe thought a motor mount or a suspension component (though never once made an odd noise throughout suspension travel/stroke, or over bumps or dips).

So, I dropped it off at the dealer for a day to see if they could take a look at it. Turns out, and forgive me, but I haven't had a chance to view the work order, but either the upper or lower control arm was loose. Also, forgive my lack of info, but I'm not certain if it was undertorqued at the subframe, splindle/balljoint, or what...

I plan to view the work order this evening for more details. I also know very well all of the technicians at this dealer, and may speak with them about it next time I am there.

Anybody else experience this issue? Little unusual to have suspension problems crop up only 11K miles into a vehicle's life. Makes me wonder if it left the factory under torqued...

Did you view the work order on the evening of 11/8? What did it say?
