Continental ExtremeContact DWS opinions?

I'm looking for some new summer tires for my 2008 Speed3. The stock Potenza's that came with the car are worn so I'm still running my winter tires for now.

I don't race my car on a track or anything like that. Everything on my Speed3 is stock. I just use it to go back and forth to work, and to visit friends in the city, so I'm looking for a tire that will last a little longer than the Potenzas. I want lifespan more so than grip.

A guy at a local tire shop recommended the Continental ExtremeContact DWS for my needs. They are an all season tire (although I'll continue to put the Pirelli winter tires on come December). Has anyone here tried the ExtremeContact DWS's? Any opinions on them? Good? Bad? So-so?

Thanks.

The previous generation of this tire (the continental contiextremecontact) rated very very well in it's class. They are UHP all seasons and should perform up to your standards if it is just a DD and you don't have dedicated snows. I personally know someone local who has over 25,000 miles on them and loves them. But... might I ask what kind of climate you live in? I can give a few, better performing reccomendations if you live in a warm climate where your car doesn't see snow.

Agree with sas, I had em (first gen) on the rolla when I first got the 18's, they are very good in the wet, at least when fresh. edge wear on the fronts was noticeable, not much meat there. but that was the first season of autox and I needed a bit more camber. pretty quiet too if I remember right

Saskatchewan, thats a terrible idea... Star Specs are lightyears better performance wise than anything continental offers.

I have a set of the DWSs on my car right now. Awesome.

+1

I've got 'em too. No complaints, I'm about 10K miles into the relationship... excellent wet grip, not as responsive in dry conditions as the factory RE050's but that is to be expected. tread wear is good so far
