Considering CX-5 AWD...

Hi guys, moving near Montreal and need a reliable AWD car for long commutes that is FUN to drive. I have had a 93 Mazda MX-3 since 2002 and had an 07 Mazda6 for about a year until moving to NYC where I do not need a car. I of course would love a Mazda and CX-5 is a great choice suits all of my needs EXCEPT that 5-speed is not offered with AWD! If it was I would be sold... don't know if the Automatic will kill the fun this car could be for me. Its disappointing but Subaru has it figured out. Most of their cars are AWD and offered with manual transmissions and are very customizable. Was thinking about new Impreza (although my first impression was that it is hideous) I considered a Wrangler since I have wanted one since I was a teenager and the unlimited wrangler is very attractive - gas mileage as well as ride quality and reliability keep me searching. Considered Mazdaspeed6 since it suits all of my needs but need something new and reliable preferably with warranty. Any other ideas? Why hasn't Mazda offered more manual AWD cars? Would love CX-5 or Mazda6 wagon with 5-speed AWD!!

Honestly the 2.5 gs model is automatic and very fun to drive. Go for a test drive. I promise you will love it

yep automatic is fun enough, i had a mazdaspeed 3 for 5 years before the cx5, and I cant say i miss it that much.

maybe the power, but seriously,even with auto, this cx5 is very enjoyable to drive .

Give it 30-50 more hp and tq, plus paddle shifters, it would be perfect.

Most subarus in manual have a viscous coupling center differential, which seems to kinda suck and prone to overheating and failing forever.

Yeah Think I will be going with the CX-5 afterall, I am sure it is a blast to drive and looks great.
