Connecticut Needs Your Help in Saving Lives!!!

honestly i can say that it doesnt matter what kind of drivers ed training you give-kids are going to race regardless. its a personal choice.

How about parents exercising a little more control over their kids? Maybe they don't need to buy them a car.

While any new racing venue is welcome, I really doubt it will reduce the amount of street racing. It is the rebellious nature of the racing that attracts kids.

Besides, from what I have seen of the recent CT crashes, it was more likely "stoplight" or opportunistic racing, not the same as street racing in my opinion.

yea for the most part street racing is usually spur of the moment at a stoplight or on the highway-a dragstrip would be awesome though

Well, here in CT its a big problem, it's just like the F&F movie, late at noight people meet up organize races and they race. Most of the time people are betting thousands of dollars on races.Plus it's not just kids, it's poeple into there mid 40's street racing too... Here's why everything is so dangerous. In the picture below is one of the many street racing sites in CT. This one is one of the most dangerous. First off the road is right next to a high way off ramps. the finish line is about 100 feet before a 3-way stop. in the middle of the night since there's no one around, most people comming from the highway, dont stop at this intersection. Most of the time the street racers end up flying through the intersection and hitting on comming cars. Secondly, there's water on the other side of the street with no guard rails or protection if someone looses control and crashes.... It's really bad here, when you have about 300 cars every friday.

if driving became more of a priviledge then taken for granted as it is in this country the laws would be obeyed more. Over in Europe the age to start driving is higher and if I remember it costs a couple of thousand to attain your license. The penalties for breaking the laws are harsher also which means you lose your license that much easier. IMO things should be changed to where it costs more to get the license and the penalties for breaking the law are more extreme i.e. street racing=lose your ride, speeding(10+over posted limit) lose your license for a few months it might not solve all the problems, but it is a step in the right direction, just my .02
