I'm already dreading the 9 hour (each way) drive. I count six people from the Bay Area on the list, and some of them are already backing out of going.
I hate to say it, but I may be one of them.
Last summer, a grand total of 2 NorCal proteges showed up to the "all Cali"event because the drive to Santa Barbara is so darn long...this drive is about twice as long as that one, and I don't see what I'm representing when no one else from around here comes.
For a TRUE California meet, I really think we should meet somewhere in Central Cal, that way it's not so biased toward LA Proteges, and some of us NorCal/BayArea Pros can make the drive too. As it is, to drive 9 hours(speeding like a mad man) just to hang out for a day, then turn around and drive 9 hours home...That's the whole weekend, and at the end of it, I'll be more tired than when I started. It just doesn't seem worth it. (dunno)
Let's plan a meet for Central Cal someday. Anyone ever looked into Pismo Beach? It's a state park where we could all meet and drive on the beach(the sand is really packed) and it would be a great place to hang out and BBQ...it's centrally located, open, beautiful, easy to find...there's no track, but it's much better for a car meet than a random park, IMO.
Anyway, sorry for flaking, but that drive is just too damn long and I can't afford another speeding ticket.
