computer crashed

yup. finally happened. it took a big dump.

luckily nothing on there was very important, but ALL of my pics. i was actually going to make back up disc of all of them, when... there i was no s***....

it made a popping noise and smelled like it had been burned...now the pc will turn on but it wont send info to the screen.....

i am no good with fixing them, so does anyone have any suggestions on how i can do a back up and get my pics atleast.. i dont want to take it where i am going to be charged a $100 to get this done... i would love to get the pics, but not for that price....

you either need another Hd, or another computer (a friends will do as well)

if another blank HD: install in computer, load windows, then turn off, install BOTH HD's and browse the 2nd HD.

if a friends computer, just install the had, and browse it.

if its just a bad windows install you can install without formatting as well

ok.....still have no clue.... i couldnt tell you what i would be doing besides messing up the other computer.....?????

Skip the "HD in your old machine" bit. Basically you just need to stick the hard drive in a working computer (with the machine turned off, open the box, and connect your hard drive just like you see the existing hard drive connected, the multicolored cords with white female ends are power, the wide flat cord is data), and then read that disc.
