Compustar Vs. Audiovox 2-way

I'm looking to get an alarm for my car, as soon as I can make a decision between the Compustar and the Audiovox 2-way system, which i forget the model # of. Any installers on here have experience with both?

Price is not a concern, I am just looking for opinions on both and how they stack up against one another.

One thing that is kind of swaying me at the moment is that the compustar remotes look like crap, and I have a guy I work with who has one, and he won't shut up about how awesome it is. I'de like to get the audiovox one out of spite towards him :)

Any info you guys would have is greatly appreciated.

My experience is old - I've been away from alarms for over a year, but I sold and installed Audiovox for about 4 years. It was crap then, and is probably still crap today. Especially the remotes - which sounds like the main feature you're interested in.
No experience with Compustar, although I don't remember hearing much bad about them.

Why in the hell did Clifford ever have to get swallowed up by DEI?

Not necessarily related to alarms, but I have yet to see a quality product made by Audiovox...

Actually, there is another thread where the audiovox 2-way get some priase for its lack of problems. I am looking at the APS996 myself

I have the Compustar and well it is awesome. I love it and totally think it is worth the money! I don't know anything about the Audiovox with the exception that I have heard that most of their stuff is crap. Don't discount the Compustar because of some putz. Ask him to show you what all it does and then go see if you can find a person with the Audiovox and see what it does, compare the two and decide from there!

No no, I have experience with the compustar, its an amazing alarm. I assumed that audiovox would of had a similar product, and was wondering which was the better of the two. Every one of my friends has a compustar, simply because of the deal we get on them coupled with the fact that they're such a good alarm. I wanted to know if the audiovox was better.

Right now, I'm leaning towards compustar. I've got a hookup for it as well, $500 canadian, installed.

Quality is similar on each, just aviod DEi.
After that the install will make the most difference.

Just had my Audiovox installed today. I got it over the Viper based on the comments on how good the Audiovox was working. I can't really say one way or another as how good it is. It is my first alarm and only had it for a day.

LOL, I didn't know there was an upday.

I guess I like it. I wish there was a perimiter alarm. I hate people even getting near my car. I know the Viper has that. I watched this lady have a conversation with someone right by my car and wouldn't you know it, started leaning on it!!! I left the resaurant and am like, "Hey lady, if you want to scratch the hell out of your car, go ahead, but GET THE HELL OFF MINE!" That wouldn't have happened with a perimiter alert.

I need to turn the sensitivity up on it. I can hit the window pretty hard and not so much as a chirp. One of the main reasons I got the two way was to alert me of door dings. Time for people to pay for my dents.

I have the DEI 508D Proximity sensor hooked up to my Audiovox APS995C and it works fine. You hook it up diff. than you would if it were a DEI alarm but it works. On the prox you have 4 wires (red, black, green, blue). On the Audiovox shock sensor you have the same color wires. You hook up red to red, black to black, green to blue, and blue to green. The DEI and Audiovox use opposite colors for warn away and full trigger. It works just fine though.
