Hey, I'm thinking about buying a cold air intake for my MP3... I'm thinking about the MHP CAI, but does any one know how much more HP that will give me... I called the MHP shop and they said that it's around 12-18 more HP, but it hasn't been dyno'ed.... is that right for just a cold air intake?
Does any one know the real HP count? s :)

I think some one on this board did a dyno with a MHP cai and they got like 4whp, that's pretty standard for cai I gather. Do a search for more info.

They are a little high I would say. It is more like 10 at the crank, and thats on a Good Day :)

They are wrong no airtake will had 12-18hp....It will add 2-5 hp....This is how it works...for ex. when you just by intake it will add a few but if you buy headers with it it will add the 12-18.....then if you add a full exaust you will be up to 20-25 horses... The more after market parts you add they all work together to add power......then if you add a turbo you will get much more...turbos can add all different amount of power.....Also it goes by cyclinder of the engine...4 bangers will get 2-5, v6 will get 5-8 and a v8 will get a little more power from just adding intake... A lot of companies lie...you have to remember they are trying to make money and sale a product..They know what people want to hear, I have been through it with my other car adding lots of products.....it may add 12-18 but not by itself...So be very carefull in what buy....
