Does the cob have the air straightener for the MAF? I guess it's possible it's not needed since the filter is pretty much inline with the MAF housing.

Personally, and I know this is after the fact, but I would have gone with the CP-E intake for the sole reason of you mentioning the purchase of the Standback in the future. I think one is tuned for the other.

Cobb is coming out with their version of EMS. It will work well with the Cobb intake.

When it comes to product releases for the MS3, I always remember an old cowboy saying:

Meat's not meat til it's in the pan.

I decided on the Cobb. Much more dollar efficient IMO and I did some research on their AP!

DON'T DO IT!! if your planning on getting the standback you will run in to lean issues at idle... wich areen't that big of a deal but will cuase cel. plus youll get a better charge of air with the filter lower...

How on earth are you going to be lean at idle? it has the exact same diameter around the MAF as stock (which is also the same as CPEs intake).

I have heard of people on hear who thought that I think "craigr" I think ... tried cobb and had the same issue as the mazdaspeed cia. the cp-e maf is actually a little smaller i think.. People have tried the cobb with the stanback and had the same prob as the mazdaspeed cia.... with the standback you can tune out the issue of the too lean as i have.. but your still probably better off with there cia.

:P its listed at s t r e e t u n i t . c o m so i hope it comes out. If not I don't think it would be a huge deal to use the CP-E one with the Cobb intake.

In the newest issue of 0-60 its listed as available. I'm thinking of calling up Cobb and saying I want one. When they say its unavailable yet, I'll have to tell them they may want to speak with their advertising department or website development team because I have an add in front of me that says otherwise.

You work for CPE or drinking their special kool-aid? That is total BS, the Cobb SRI has the same air straightner and while the MS Cai may cause some issues the Cobb certianly won't.

The AP is also superior to the standback so not sure why you'd pay more for CPE's CAI and tunning software when you can get better gains, and a better tune for less from Cobb. I love CPE's TBE, but engine tunning i am not convinced. i know too many speed6 owners locally with blown engines thanks to the standback

no I don't work for cp-e *explitive deleted*. I was simply stateing that people have posted on these boards that the cobb cuases the too lean at idle probs just like the ms cia.

The AP just needs to come out. SU has it listed as "ETA is end of first quarter/beginning of second quarter 2008"

also most of the engine blowing is cuased by improper tuning with the standback. leaning it out to much etc. putting on a big turbo turning up the boost...

So then its drank the CPE kool-aid then, got it. enjoy the (upbum) (flame2)

My A/F ratios are the same, haven't seen any data showing that the Cobb SRI runs leanner then a CPE CAI but easy enough to miss on these threads.

if your not planning on getting the standback then the cobb is fine.. if your planning on getting the standback then cobb is ok youll just need to tune out the cel lean idle wich can be done. Or you could get cp-e cia.

If you're going to throw the dumbass out there lets seem some data to support your claim. Ever post i've read (i.e. Link) talks about the MS CAI, and Custom SRI's running lean whereas the Cobb and the CPE are the same.

Sounds to me like your pulling make belief facts out of your a$$ (loser)

hey I read it on these boards.. Someone thought the cobb would work with the standback and go the too lean at idle code. Could be wrong. Just stateing what i read...

The AP will work with any system that keeps the AFRs generally the same as stock. So CP-e or Cobb. The Standback may require tuning to run a non CP-e intake.

See how easy it was to say that without turning this into another iCock fight? I swear, can this forum go 24 ******* hours without becoming another CP-e vs Anti CP-e death match. You guys are worse than the AMS v. Burschur types I know.

There is no brand death match, i have both CPE and Cobb products on my car.... just correcting an error made about the AF ratios of the Cobb SRI

Interesting I guess that just surprises me. Both CPE and Cobb worked hard to get theirs to be the same as stock.
