COBB AccessPORT

Projected Release

Late March

Pricing

Pre-orders, Deposits, Lists

At this time we are not making any lists, taking deposits, or doing any types of pre-orders. Once we get information to the dealers they may, but that is something you will have to take up with them and they may make their own announcement on the forms, etc.

Projected Features

Improve horsepower, torque, and fuel economy at the touch of a button.
Display vehicle data such as boost, RPM, temperatures and more while you drive.
Easy installation, no mechanical or computer skills necessary.
Connects to your vehicle via the OBD-II port conveniently located under your dash.
Easy-to-read color display.
Update over the Internet to stay up-to-date with the latest features.
Not a "piggyback". Once vehicle's computer has been programmed by the AccessPORT, it can be removed and the settings will stay on your computer.
Not just an "ECU reflash" - AccessPORT features enhancements such as on-the-fly mode switching, data monitors, reading DTCs, performance monitors, boost cuts, boost reduction for speed and gears, fuel cuts, RPM limits, throttle body behavior, corrections, in addition to the normal functions like fueling, timing, and boost.
The AccessPORT downloads the actual map that was on it. If you are taking your car to the dealership and suspect that they will attempt to update your mapping, then you will have to unmarry it, take it in and have them flash it, then remarry your AccessPORT. This will allow your stock map loaded on your AccessPORT to be the latest factory revision.
Once the AccessPORT is married to the car only the AccessPORT can flash it. To allow the dealer to flash your car as normal you will have to unmarry the AccessPORT from your car.
The ODB II dataloging is not locked. Any device that reads the OBD II data can still function properly.
Only planned for the MazdaSpeed3 at this time.
Maps made by AccessTUNER Pro facilities can be shared, however the mapping can only be viewed by that AccessTUNER, not the end user nor another AccessTUNER.
Pre-calibrated to maximize performance of stock or modified vehicles*
Can be custom tailored to your vehicle by our extensive network of professional tuners**

* For modifications we have done calibrations for, not for every combo of parts
** May not be on initial release

Repair/Replace/Stolen/Totaled Car Scenarios

Dies/Busted
Send it in, we repair it, charge you if it was not a warranty issue (something like your dog ate it), and we send it back out.
Stolen
You have to send us a copy of a police or insurance report that states that the AccessPORT was stolen. You may have to send us the ECU so that we can get the marriage info off of it. We marry and AccessPORT to it (or un-marry your ECU) and send them back. If we unmarried the ECU you then have to re-marry the AccessPORT. If you do not have a police report or insurance paperwork that states that the AccessPORT was stolen then you have to pay for another license ($395).
Car is Totaled and You Could Not Un-marry the AccessPORT
You have to send us a copy of a police or insurance report that states that your car was totaled. You send us in the AccessPORT, we un-marry it (we do charge a small fee for this as it takes time), and send it back. This way it can be married to your new car or sold and another person use it. If you do not have a police report or insurance paperwork that states that the AccessPORT was stolen then you have to pay for another license ($395).
You Purchased an AccessPORT from Someone on eBay and it is Married
Assuming you are not able to contact the seller, you have to send us the AccessPORT and we un-marry it. However, as well as the labor fee we charge you for the license ($395) since the old one is still out there making another car super fast.

Didn't know they were going to make a BPV. My bet is they just decided to make some for all the turbo cars they've been working on, they just have to adjust the flange and spring for the different cars. Pretty spiffy.

2008 is going to be a GOOD year.

so are they really only going to do tunes for THEIR intake?

yes.
it costs them a lot of money and time to make maps for intakes that other companies make. Using a different intake may be safe, it shouldnt lean it out to a point where its unsafe, but there are no guarantees so somebody needs to test it beforehand.

thats gay, we are going to see alot of people posting up cai's for sale in the marketplace. Hopefully everything works out for all intakes

we already have, but you have to look at it in from a business perspective, would you want to waste your time and money to make something you produce compatible with another persons product? that way a consumer can go out and buy the thing the other company makes?
I understand Cobb's point of view perfectly. But I know exactly what you mean, I hope everythnig works out withit.

Maybe I don't understand the development but wouldn't it be sortof easy to map for the MS CAI? I mean, if they already have the tuner software made, just dyno a stock car with just a MS CAI. Sort out the power setup and save the map.

Right? or am I totally off on this.

it takes a lot more testing than that. Josh said something about how they had to have someone thats at sea level write it then they have to send it to cobb then they have to send it back and forth and all that... So it takes a lot of time.

I'm not saying that NO intakes will work with it, but the maps werent designed to use any other intakes, they may work, but the a/f ratios may not be perfect.

I would bet that they will have a map that work's with the Mazda Speed intake, I think it would be pretty stupid of them not to.

it says they are working on it it may or may not be redy at release for MS CAI

Requested Features (we will try to work in at release or as an update later)

MazdaSpeed intake compatibility for our Stage 1 & 2 Maps
LC & FFS
Higher gas mileage map (Mileage gains TBA)
Tire size calibrations

Also keep in mind the cobb AP comes with the ability to read the factory wideband, so if you have the MS cai and you buy the ap, you can flash it, then keep an eye on your a/f and if everything seems to run fine, keep the flash, otherwise you'll have to look into other options.

so with the ap i wouldnt need to buy a afr gauge? they are like 200 bucks, just keep the ap plugged in like the dash hawk?

yes or you can get a splitter and run both i dont know how well that would work and the DH reads the WB O2 sensor, or you can flash the car with the ab and disconect AP and still use the DH
