Cobb AP Discussion Thread

i have my idle turned up.. not for smoking though.. there are serveral ways to stop that before you go replacing your turbo and dealing with mazda.. ive posted this several times, but ill do it again

PTP Plug

goes in your breather port on your valve cover

an Oil Catch Can and Running 5w-40 oil will also help.

my idle is turned up because i have all the motor mounts, im running 1025 rpm, and im running all 3 of the fixes i just listed.

no smoke to date, never smoked at all.

I have the PT product and run 5-40, guess its the OCC too. Before I need an oil change mine still will a little. Thanks!

wait a minute. why would'nt running a different viscosity effect VVT? it is hydralic based after all.!?!

Because the system has feedback from the Camshaft Postion Sensor to alter the camshaft position real-time to maintain the targeted position. There is a VVT table in ATR where you can change the intake cam timing.

Ive been contemplating getting an AP for a while just due to the fuel in canada. Our high level 92.93.94 octane fuel is Premium, blended with ethanol. Now what affect is the ethanol blend going to play...

The ethanol blended in will raise the octane of the fuel at the cost of mileage.

you should be fine to run the 93octane maps.

the thing is, your gonna wanna flash a map. then datalog. see what you get.

Got my corksport intake/turbo inlet pipe today. Is the cobb SF TIH close enough to use? i havent seen ANY corksport maps... i hope i can just run stage2+ SF TIH 93 and then calibrate my maf to 0 out the LTFT...

yes you should be fine.

Does anyone have a map for cobb intake, tip, and fmic. 93octane. I only found ones with stage 2=dp, which I dont have. Thank you for your help.

i've been watching for smoke since i added the dp and still none at all.

did log today. WOT in 3rd gear. 65 degrees today so kinda cool. man the car pulls hard. really feeling this dp now. changed throttle position for APP.
things look decent. little pattern i've noticed here and in other logs. around the 4k mark, you'll notice fuel pressure dips a tad then picks back up. whatever thats all about. but other than that things look good.

My wastegate duty cycle is pegged at 100% over 5000 rpms with like 16psi. i guess TMIC/DP make a big difference in turbo efficency... cant wait to get my TMIC

You can go into ATR and raise the WGDC table values over 5k rpms and it will bring your logged/monitored WGDC % down.....

Got a log, looks ok to me and Boosted is taking a closer look. Just wanted to see what the pros on here thought.

Log looks fine considering you don't have a DP. The OEM BCS is running wide open trying to hit boost target which is normal in your case, but not desired for OEM BCS longevity. The DP is restricting the turbo rpms so the turbo is maxed out for your setup. I recommend the ATP catted DP along with the Perrin EBCS and you shouldn't need to change anything. If you don't have $$$, then get the Perrin or other EBCS and switch from OEM bleed mode to EBCS interrupt. OR you can just do nothing and it will work just fine until sometime in the future when the OEM BCS finally craps out.

I've wanted a DP but kinda have broke the bank getting to where I am. I may have to wait a bit. I drive normal most of the time. Never considered an EBCS. I was wanting to get a rear dif brace also. All that is over 1k, ouch. I'd love to be closer to 12's like you tho. How could you tell the OEM BCS was maxed out w/the log?

The logged WGDC was up around max % and the boost was dropping as rpms rising. That says the OEM turbo is giving all it can with the flow restrictions.

I've found the OEM WGDC table values in ATR are pretty close to ideal for the OEM turbo output capability. I've raised the WGDC table values above 5k rpms which will drop the logged WGDC value, but the OEM BCS is still running wide open maxed out because the turbo can't get to the Boost/Load targets.

Ok, hence the reason for the DP and Perrin BCS. Even w/a DP the OEM BCS is maxed and w/only the EBCS the turbo is restricted given the targets. I think I understand this correctly? What's an install like on those two items? DIY or shop?
