Just broke in my 03 Prot5 and want opinons on replacing the front door stocks with coax's while LEAVING IN the stock tweeters in the sail panel...I wasn't happy with them by themselves and am not ready to upgrade to components. Is there anything I need to consider besides cranking down the treble on the stock 6-disc?

Well...hmm...you can get a super cheap set of Boston components (FS80) for like 230$ retail which are a direct fit 5x7. Considering you'll probably pay around 150$ for a good coax pair you might as well splurge. Or...just forget the tweeters completely...I think the MSP speakers would sound much better w/o the tweeter up so high. Also...In the MSP the wiring is apparently just using the natural crossover of the tweeters and runnging the speakers in parallel. I don't know for sure seeing as I haven't gotten to go buy the comps I want yet. Want some 6x8 Kenwood eXcelons?
