i was looking at the clutchmasters clutches and i dont see our setup (2.0L ta ta ta turbo) is their something im missing or.... a point in the right direction would be great. also what is the skinny on clutchmaster clutches. i dont hear con's but i havnt herd that many pro's either. but spec i've herd lots of con's and some pro's and some pro's and con's regarding act. i just dont know which to go with, and if i should get a flywheel with the clutch or just the clutch. ahhhhhhhhh i need a clutch and i just need to buy one but i honestly dont know which clutch and or flywheel to buy.

thanks

Whatever works with the regular 2.0L protege should work on the car. If you're opening up the tranny to do the clutch, why not do the flywheel while your there and save the time and money of doing it later on.

I hear alot of good things about ACT Clutches! I would check them out. You can find them on **********.com.

depends, the only reason you would want a alluminum lightened flywheel is if you auto-X,otherwise your s*** will not be any faster, and if you drag,it will be harder to luanch.

corksports.com sells a mazdaspeed flywheel thats been lightened a little, making it a perfect street flywheel.

as far as the clutches,I am running the spec stage 3 hybrid,it is a nice clutch, put I feel that most people that put them in forget to resurface thier flywheel, and clean the flywheel, and presureplate surfaces with break clean.

..........and it ends up cuasing them issues.

ahhh. yeah i've been wanting to order a clutch for the past couple weeks just been lazy and dont know which to go with. i'll look into the hybrid and act as well as the stock fly lightened. also can i tell the trani place where i get it done to clean off these surfaces...? so that i make sure things are right the first time and i dont have to go back for more trani issues.

thanks again

so i think im leaning towards the spec stage III hybrid. it handles 400 (compared to act's 285) ft/lbs so wouldnt it last longer / be more durable. or does it not matter as long as you dont go over the clutches ft/lb rating...? i was looking into the act but on the sites i looked at (corksport, apex...etc etc) they say that they engage harsh and arnt really streetable for the higher up act stage clutches. so i believe the spec stage III hybrid as well as the msp lightened up flywheel will be a good setup and that i'll let all ya'lls know how it feels once i get it all up and running and installed. thanks for all the help and hopfully this is what im looking for in a clutch / flywheel setup.

THANKS YOU VARY MUCH

take it easy

does of ya'lls know where the spec III hybrid clutch is sold the cheapest. i know it's 395 on MAM's website, im just wondering if it's any cheaper anywhere else. also the MSP lightened flywheel is 175 on corksports site, anyone know where i can get it cheaper. or should i just buy the fly from cork and the clutch from MAM? thanks for the info

-dave

you won't find it cheaper,or anywhere else at all for that matter,Beau at MAM had SPEC make the hybrid for them.

it's a very good price for a clutch that holds that much power.

I have had the spec stage III hybrid in my car for 34k miles so far and it has been prefectly fine. It held 12-15psi at certain points, and around 10psi daily for me. I personally like it had haven't had any problems out of it.

are you thread jacking in my thread wicked, u silly goose...!!! jk seriously tho

peace easy
-dave

yes I thread jacked, and it feels good.

hay,but atleast I answered your question as best as I could, and gave you information, you needed to know.

Just get your flywheel resurfaced. No need to replace unless its shot or an extreme high miler. I would get a clutch designed for an MSP, not an NA. I think that is the reason why so many members have had clutch issues, in addition to poor installation procedure. Wicked hit it on the head with the brake clean. Clean everything with it to minimize problems. And never put a clutch in without resurfacing the flywheel.

the reason i want to get this lightened MSP flywheel is so that i can get a little less rotating mass and improve rev'ing as well as having a new flywheel and then having no need to worry about resurfacing.

ps. imma find a thread you started wicked and start talking about Michigan weather!! so HAH
