clutch replacement upgrade suggestions

Good Morning,

Im getting my original clutch replaced at 137K, including the throwout bearing and resurfacing the plate. Any part upgrade suggestions beyond the stock Mazda parts to boost smooth shifting and longevity? Otherwise ill be going with whatever parts the shop purchases.

Thanks!

Exedy. My clutch pedal is a lot softer now after installing one, it's a joy to drive, no leg fatigue in heavy traffic.

Southbend clutch. Its the go-to clutch for the majority of the Mazda line with tuners for over a decade for good reason. I just installed a stage3 drag version of there clutch in my Mazda6 after doing the 6 speed conversion. Couldnt be happier. Also have there clutch in my KL 626, and my turbo PGT.

Southbend or OE are your best choices. If you're happy with the OE clutch, then it's a solid choice. the Southbend is definitely the best option if you want to put down more power in the future though.

What about the exedy stage 1 or stage 2? Or the spec 1, 2/2+ vs factory exedy clutch?

Not really necessary unles you're running substantial power adders.

Planning.to jump up to turbo setup in the future, and honestly want something.that will handle.that plus years of 2nd gear dumps without blowing out. Paired with a fidanza flywheel...still looking for it.to be daily driver friendly though. Shooting.for 225 torque and about 250 hp at the wheels

Try Bully clutch or Southbend. I used to run Spec but kept burning them up. Currently on Clutchmasters Stage 4 but that is way overkill for your needs.

I still want it to be daily driver friendly, was thinking the exedy stage 1 or stage 2 would be my best bet....those numbers I threw out are a best case scenario number...I'd be happy around 175-200 honestly at about 10lb-12lb boost. Not looking to win any races here lol, just looking.for a bit.more power than stock...without breaking things every 10 min :p weekend autocross or hill climb racing is what I want.to do with it and still see good mpg on the highway
