2000 Protege LX
I was wondering if the mazda speed clutch would fit on a 2000 1.8 L mazda protege ? I know the flywheel on the 2.0L and 1.8L is the same and the tranny is the same . SO it should fit , no ?

thanks

mate unfortunately i dont know where you got that info, but i hate to tell you the following

- the flywheels are different
- the clutches are different
- the gearboxes are different

so in otherwords, it wont fit.

Alright thanks for the info . So i was thinking of getting an ACT clutch to replace mine . I found nice deals on the net for 257$ . I don't want to stick an OEM back in there since the 1.8L clutch is soo week.

you can get uprated clutches for the 1.8. you can also get a fidanza flywheel (althought not 100% sure). it should be the same as the 1.6L miata

Im gonna get my stock flywheel shaved abit and that will do the trick . Right now my stock clutch sucks soo bad . For driving around like a granny it's perfect , very smooth shift ... lol . As soon as i try to shift harder i don't see any power going to the wheels it slips abit and it engages very smooth even if i let go the clutch real fast .

How long does it take to do the clutch ? I was thinking about 4 hours .

there is a how to remove tranny thread somewhere.....i would leave yourself pleanty of time and make sure you know what you are doing.

i would pay someone if you are questioning yourself!

300-350 USD to have someone replace clutch and flywheel.

Oh im not doing it myself , i just want a ruff estimate . Here my local mechanic charges 40$/h canadian plus 30$ for resurfacing the flywheel but i can count more cause i want them to shave 3-4 pounds off it .
