Clutch Noise

On my manual P5 I recently noticed when I use the clutch it makes a horrible noise, kinda like a squeek but not really. I hear it more with my windows down because its somewhere in the transmission/engine area in the front of the car behind the firewall. I don't notice any performance issues it is causing and only really hear it when in stopped and the engine is idle, because its not loud enough to be heard otherwise. Still though its a nasty ugly noise and probably anyone near my car can hear it. Plus the possible mechanical problems it might cause.

My guess would be the throw-out bearing. Not a very good description of the problem though. How many miles on your car? Does the noise happen with the pedal pushed in or with it out?

It happens as I press the pedal... so its something to do with the movement of the pedal. Almost 50k miles on the car.

I think I got the same problem... dose it sound kinda like a dam fan belt from Hell? Cause sometimes when it rains I push in the clutch and it makes like a fan belt kinda sound

yes. rain makes it worse and all when its a cold engine/clutch... kinda goes away I think after the car is ran for awhile

Well, open the hood, and have someone push the clutch in while you stand in front of the car and listen. See if you can tell where the sound is coming from. If it's a belt the sound will be coming from the front/passenger side of the engine bay. If it's the throw-out bearing it will sound like it's coming from the other end of the engine. Those are about the only two things I can think of it being, and either one would be worse when it's cold out and will probably get better as it warms up.

Found my problem Its a normal problem for water or moisture to be on the belt... so will make a squeek for a little on my car maybe 15secs MAX and I am good to go... but if its a rainy day it will squeek like 10secs then maybe 10-15mins later squeek for like 10secs again

I figured it was one or the other. You should be glad it was that and not the throw-out bearing(wiggle) .

mine made a weird noise for a coupe of weeks too, then i flushed and bleed the lines, noise is gone and clutch feels like new again
