Clutch Master shutter

Exactly, you beat me to it.

I have the solution for it all. . .
Introducing the new Beavis clutch, good for 300 Hp, with a stock feel! Due to NASA technology we can offer a clutch with twice the performance of any clutch in its price range. We provide a 100,000 mile guarantee and promise you that this clutch will never shutter!

Woohoo. . .paypal me now!

:D LOL :D

I guess that means you get the joke with the name too. . .man I miss that

At least there is S.P. Sorry to lead this thread down the wrong path. . .

Now we return to our regularly scheduled programming!

Yeah, i loved that show. Comedy Central should air reruns of Beavis and Butt Head. SP rulez too.

i relize that, but i though it might have some useful info. I dont know much about either clutch so i wasnt sure if it was a biased statement.

Bringing this back.
Im upgrading my clutch....but have a few Q's?

1. Will a 40-50% stiffer pressure plate stress the pump or make any harm in a long term.
2. Im still not over any brand but ACT already has the kit listed for the Protege5, Clutchmasters dont. Will you guys consider it just because of this?
3. Will just a stage# disk (not pressure plate) work fine on our cars? RR-Racing.com just sells kits, not the disk alone!

I need to know this, because I have to make a choice this upcoming week and $400+ on a kit is not a few bucks. What can go wrong....I dont want chatters of any kind, but if the chatter is just as the chatter the P5 has on the stock clutch, I think I can handle it.

i still havent experience any chatter, an im very happy with my clutch.

I'm curious here. Do those of you who have changed your clutch have a stiffer pedal feel. If I upgrade my clutch, I'd like to keep the stock feel. I really dislike having to use all my strength to press the clutch to the floor. Sorry if this comes across as a dumb questions, but I know absolutely nothing about the drivetrain of the Protege.

There was no noticable differnce in the power needed to press in the clutch from stock for me.

I've had the Clutchmasters in for a while now. I have no shudder or anything. I have totally smooth engagement and when it does engage it's not jerky but it feels like it smoothly slingshots me forward. Perhaps the problem you have stems from not breaking it in properly 1st. I did everything by the book and it works great. This problem you have may also be from the friction disk not being correctly centered between the flywheel and the pressure plate

It never shutters on acceleration just when downshifting to 2nd in low rpms.

Silly Q, but is the shudder (and it's "shudder!" :)) definitely with the clutch/flywheel, or could it be the engine itself? I say this only because a quick downshift to 2nd may put a high load on the mounts due to the greater engine braking in the lower gears, which could cause the shudder from the flywheel and clutch engaging.

Just an idea.

Its higher RPM downshift that give NO shudder. When you down shift from 3rd to second at 2500 rpm, thats when it shutters when you release the clutch. If I downshift quicker and at a higher rpm then its no problem.
