Cool !
I never had any probs with the 1-2 shift with the new clutch. What do you mean exactly? is it hard to get into second or sticking in first or what?

sometimes it requires a bit of force to go to 2. it leaves 1, but gets caught somewhere halfway between neutral and fully in 2. you know how sometimes reverse is hard to engage and you have to try a couple of times...kinda like that. you just have to try. i said that it seems to be going away, but it's not. i'll probably drop it off at the dealership in the morning, but other than that, the clutch feels great.

I dropped mine off at the dealer this morning and of course they are having trouble recreating the problem, and they claim they can't fix it unless their technician can "feel it happen" during a test drive.....we'll see

did anyone who actually had the new kit put in,have mods?(short throw)?

i had a Short Throw shitfer and a new Intake on my car when the dealership fixed it for me....

Has anyone else had the problem I'm having with the dealer? Mine doesn't do the hard shifting thing but every so often....so of course they are having trouble replicating it...

So yesterday I called the dealership. They said I had to talk to services and they were closed already so they recommended I call back today. I did. I got in touch with the services and made him aware of the TSB (which he already seemed to be aware of). The problem was that he told me that they had to check it out. This is where he said I'd have to make an appt to bring it in and leave it overnight(seemed like he knew what I was talking about). And they'd have to "verify" the problem. The thing is, he said the car had to be less than a year old and have less than 12,000 miles. I have about 27k. He also said something about a $75 fee to check it out if I didn't fall under this warranty. He kept on giving me this bulls*** about the defference between a recall and a TSB. He said they recieved TSBs all the time, so i take it that he did know what I was talking about..even referred to it as the "chatter" :wtf:

So yea, I don't think I'm getting anywhere with this guy. He obviously had no interest or no knowledge of what to do.

So what's up guys? What's up with this 12k/12month warranty on a "wear item" ? I offered to give him the TSB number but that didn't seem to change his mind. Just told me the same story about recalls and TSBs..

Help a Protege5 owner out yea?

thanks. nolan

They kept my car for a few days but could never replicate the problem....since I picked it up it's done the same thing about four times in the past two days....my dealer sucks

I also had the reverse gear problem before the fix. It seems that it's very common. My '91 323 also does this. To solve this all you have to is depress the clutch and press it again. I had almost 10k miles on my car when I had this fixed. Maybe someone should write a letter to mazda telling how their dealerships don't want to fix TSB.

So guys, does this fix the issue with it feeling like the engine is about to jump out of the car when starting from a stop in the morning. I have been having this issue off and on for over a year now with no luck getting it fixed.

For the most part I have stopped it by reving the engine more before I slowly let the cluth out. But while this may stop me from having the problem it will surley wear out my clutch a lot faster.

thats exactly what I was doing until i read this thread and realized that the clutch was actually ****** up and not my driving habbits...

Nice. So Cheese, did they have to drive it and see the problem themselves beforew they agreed to fix it. If so I may have to leave my car there for a day or 2 just to have them say there is no prob.

I spoke to the service department at Mazda of Sunnyvale and they said they had all parts in stock minus the flywheel so they are ordering it and when it's in they will have me bring it in for the replacement. No hassle. Just good customer service. Thus far I am very happy with their service. We'll see how smooth the actual service goes next week.

not that i know of; i called and told them what was happening and explained the TSB and they said to bring it in they would do it... i then told them that they probably need to special order the parts and i gave them the part numbers, they ordered the parts and i brought it in and then they fixed it... i am not sure if they test drove it before fixing it or not...
