Clunk Updates

newf, I feel like you took my post as a shot at you, but it wasn't at all. Sorry if you did. I (and I'm sure the rest of us as well) am/are very grateful for all of your work and dedication towards finding a fix. I believe what you say, and will continue to do so. But repairing Mazda's trustworthyness will take some time with me, that's all I was alluding to (if mazda hadn't taken 2+ yrs to find one, then there wouldn't be so much speculation, as there has been, especially from me; as I don't know S about S, but time has made me spew my thoughts and theories:D.) :)

scott42, you have never said anything to me that I can ever remember that would make me think it was a shot at me. All is good dood.

As for trusting Mazda. If anyone thinks for a second that I trust mazda......DEAD WRONG. This whole experience has been aweful, and if not for the love of the MP3, and now the MSP that I have, Iwould have never ever put up with this. It will be a LONG time before I too trust Mazda.

But, with the ECU flash that seems to work, and if this clunk fix works out in the long run as well.....their on the right track.

laterz

Oh btw, I'll only have the mp3 for the long weekend. Going back next week I think. So, I'll drive where I can.

As far as i know, it seems you can order these bushings now. Do it at your own risk, because if it was up to me as it was originally supposed to be, they wouldn't be out until I had at least 5000 kms on them over really bad roads.

(werd) We're all good, and all feel the same way, as it seems.

Keep the faith people (2thumbs)

[if a true fix comes out, my car will never go on the used car market...ever, without the clunk, its just way too good to let go of]

Ask your dealer to get you the rear swaybar bushing parts that end in the numbers 156E...that should be it. I'm sure if you look way back at the begginning of this thread, you could find the whole rest of the number, but the dealer should be able to find it pretty easily.

What about the front bushing!

I did some modification on the rear and I don't have any clunck since almost a year. But the front one still skeaking in cold wheather.

Did Mazda also looking for a fix for the front or only the rear?

Well, I don't think it's a serious issue for Mazda b/c most of their vehicles make that damn noice in front (626, MPV, Pick-up and regular protoges). My dealer put me in all these vehicles and told me there is no fix for it yet (almost an year ago). I bet ya they wont give a damn about it they will tell you to live with it (at least that is what i got from my dealer). Any ways a can of WD-40 wiht a long tube in it works good for me :D . all i do it spray it once in a week thats it.

tkz

Oh BTW how is your WRX man? I may get one next summer, ya u r right blue is always good.;)

So anyone other than Newf got these 156E bushings yet?

my dealer still hasnt gotten back to me as if they ordered it for me yet... arg...

if anyone else does get them, let me know. I kinda arranged to have another person I know get them here locally so we could test them a little faster. his is a speed and he does tons of more driving then I do so this should help to see what these are like in the long run. since I won't have the mp3 after tomorrow, this scares me. I won't have the new bushings on my own speed for some time yet either.

I thought these bushings have been released to the public? How come you wont have them on your speed for awhile?

Hey Newf if you can talk to them and arrange me in Vancouver here to test them too i would be more than willing to do it... i do tons O driving everyday too........city driving highway driving you name it. every single day...

lemme know if you need my VIN # or any other info..

thanks.

I'm getting the 156E's installed Wed. I'll let you know how it goes.
And getting fronts replaced, And the ecu flash...wait, never mind, I've only got an MP3 :D Damn.

ok, before it starts, I can't get you bushings, sorry, I don't have control over that. Your dealer is your only chance.

Like I said before, I am not recommending these yet, because i do not even know for myself if they work in the long run.

Thanks to Mazda not listening to me, and "testing" them without me, whatever happens to these.......not my doing. They seem "ok" so far but we've been down this road before

Scott....PM me from time to time, let me know what you think.

I won't be getting them on my speed for a while because these are not going to be easy to get right away, there's only so many of them.

Raj, I love that car! It's a so complete car. Power, look, comfort and handling (with minor mods). And with the winter that is coming, the pleasure of an AWD in snow and also.... drift time!!! :D

But I still like to take a ride with the MP3. With his go-kart like handling, it's always fun to take a MP3 ride on a twisty road!

Originally poasted by scott42I'm getting the 156E's installed Wed. I'll let you know how it goes. And getting fronts replaced, And the ecu flash...wait, never mind, I've only got an MP3 Damn.

LOL.... good joke man! When my MP3 was Turbo, I was dreaming about having an ECU flash! ;)

I have had the 156E's on for about a month. We have hot weather and the earliest accumulated snow fall in history while I have had these on, no problems yet. That of course means nothing, still way to early!!

wet weather is the true test, but nice to know you got about a month out of them. I have as well. how many miles you think you put on them?

My dealer still has no info on these bushings... arg....

the 156Ds still are the newest bushing shown in their computer....

I have put on approximately 1800 miles. We haven't had as much wet weather as during the summer, but the bushings have had there share of wet tryouts, at least for a month. The coming months will be a great test, if they make it that far. I still have my doubts.

I just called my dealer this morning and I got the same answer as you Initial33....No 156 E in his system....

My car is clunking like mad, even worse now with the temperature drop. Newf, if you want a Toronto volunteer, let me know.
I am going to try my dealer, Gyro Mazda, in the next week. A month ago, I went to them with the flash info, and they didn't know WTF i was talking about. To their credit, they looked into it, and got it done for me.
I am going to go to the same service manager, tell him about this 156E part, and see if they can find out about it. I figure the more people that have this new part, the better. It will either:
a) fail just like 156 D
b) "work" at least to the point of being safe and not clunking.
I will post their response here once i go see them.
Thanks for the continued effort Newf!
