Clunk Updates

no idea's about australia. No recalls as of yet. And we have had only very few reports of normal p5's and es's having this problem.

21.5mm AWR bar

I was finally able to install the 21.5mm AWR bar on my mazdaspeed.
I did this after having the car at the dealership again for clunk work.
My stock racing beat bar has been worn to a smaller diameter where the bushings go. The dealer wrapped the bar to increase the diameter back to stock. They said they could make the clunk go away if they removed the bar.
I said no sh*t!
Anyway, that night I removed the stock bar and installed the AWR.
Install was pretty easy, there were some issues I encountered, but was able to overcome.
It clunks too.
But differently.
I believe it's coming from the endlinks, as they are of a "floating" design and move around.
I used it for the weekend, and am now using the AWR endlinks and the stock racing beat bar.
It seems to make the same amount of noise as when I picked it up from the dealer after they did their thing with the busings.
I'm going to wait a few days and then put the AWR bar back on and compare noises again.

just got my car back from the dealer. The clunk is gone for now of course, but the biggest difference I noticed was the handling and ride. It's like I have a brand new car. I can take twistys on even fast now wooo!

Is a lot less costly to remake a computer program and just download it then to actuayl have to give someone a product and install it.
I think we will be neededing the MSP owners help on the clunk to get anything sloved. Ther is only 1500 of us and 5000 of them.

HEY HEY HEY!!! I just got a call from my service manager saying he got an email and parts for the NEW FIX which includes some sort of greasable bushings...only got a message so I couldn't ask questions...Sad thing is, I think some of us have already tried this and it failed...they are focusing on the wrong thing...find the design flaw, not a stronger/different bushing. Check the damn specs on the original RB setup! Damn. Not good news from what I can tell. Also, I don't want to have to grease up my bushings ever if I'm driving a basically stock car. :(

This could be good. Tell us more details asap.

Maybe this is it. I could deal with greasable bushings.

i spoke with the service manager as I was leaving work, and he said that it was a greasable bushing, but beyond that he wasn't sure. I asked him if they were "Energy brand greasable bushings" and, like I mentioned, he said, dunno, but we want to get you in soon...oh, great, thanks MNAO, so we can go back to the drawing board in a few weeks again...

I still have to schedule the appt. so I'll see if I can get some more info. But, Like I said in my earlier post, I think this is not going to turn out good for us. :(

I just picked up my car from the dealer for a stereo problem and found out they put new bushings on the rear. I believe this is a new part number 156E's. They aren't greasable. We shall see.

My dealer was told by Mazda that I was to get new bushings tried on my car. These bushings were coming from Canada and were to be in about 3 weeks ago. I had my Energy bushings replaced last week by the 156D's, because these new bushings had not come in yet. I took my car in today to get my head unit replaced and these 156E's happened to come in also today. The owner saw my car their and went ahead and put the new bushings on. (The owner is also the head Mazda mechanic). I was not able to talk to him when I picked up the car, as he had already left. I will try and find out more tomorrow. I find it hard to believe that these are the permanent fix, I would think NEWF would of known about these already if they were.
