Close call, damn :(

Be glad you didn't buy it. First, he wants too damned much. Especially for the mileage. Second, a car having gone through a severe front-impact will never, ever drive the same again. You can replace everything, straighten the frame, even pray on it, but the car just won't ever be 100% again. You can get them close, but you don't pay $20,000 for 'close'.

i highly agree. you can get a ms6 for 15 with 30k miles on it.

Man, I just searched in southeast MI and there are 6 for sale on Autotrader with low mileage and in good shape.

I live in Canada. The absolute cheapest mazdaspeed 6 that is in good condition in my area is going for $ 18,899.00(scratch) and it has 91,000 km (or 56,544 miles). The most expensive one is going for $28,980.00 and it has 60,000 kms, however the ad claims over $20,000 in perfromance upgrades with 400 + horespower (wow).

As for purchasing an American car and importing it over, it's a pretty long and difficult process with a lot of paper work and certifictaion. not to mention safety tests and loads of other checks to make sure the ride is "safe" for Canadian roads, bunch of b/s if you ask me... It costs a lot to import one, around $5000.00 I think it was, on top of the Canadian value of the car with a nice exchange rate. Oh yeah, and I get no warranty(crazy), lol.

unless you know the person well, that is NOT something you want....our cars tend to explode round that HP...

I can do body work and refinishing as well, specifically custom tuner performance cars, and I'll concur frame damage is frame damage. The paint aesthetics are what may look as good as it did before, but not the frame. The types of welds can even change the structural rigidity. The best body shop can make it 99% but never 100% pre-accident status.

buying a cra from the states u have to pay brokerage fees, duty, then your provincal tax. not to mention gas to the car and home. if he keeps looking he should find something. i got mine for 20500$ with 50k km. that was over half a year ago.

I found this one on auto trader, that's a load of s***. Those parts aren't worth 20k. There were a few others in Ontario that were worth looking at IMO.

but that cars actual frame wasnt even damaged! and all the suspension parts are all replacable! and what the **** does racing have to do with it? just because ur a car racer u know more about cars then a bodyshop? WRONG
not damaged? so you consider the fender apron (part of which is the strut/shock tower) not part of the "frame"? it's a unibody car, it's fubar plain and simple

blendercloud said it best.... you can pull it back straight but the strength is NEVER the same... it's like bending a paper clip straight, then trying to bend it back into what it was... can't happen easily right? so you keep ******* with it to try to get it "perfect", then it breaks!

I'm just glad the body damages my protege had involved no frame/unibody damage at all.... the car still drives great at the limit because of this :D

my 3 OTOH, I could feel the body twisting and hear creaking on the driveway.... until I fixed it by adding the floor crossbar... damn wrecks!

I also was in an accident with my old car, and luckily there was no frame damage. As said before, spending money on a car with frame damage is a recipe for disaster.

Come to the states and buy my car. I'm in Wisconsin. I'll pay for your gas here and back lol

u have to consider that our dollar is about .15 lower then yours right now too. so at 15% onto your cost. stupid canadaland :(

Sucks to find out that a car you are looking at doesn't pan out.. As far as it goes with every car I've owned or looked at CarFax is your friend. It will tell you more about the car than your average person wants you to know or can really hide from you.

Good luck on finding a new ride man..
