Cleanest Boost Gauge install on MS3

Eat your hearts out! Today I installed my Electronic Greddy boost gauge, (nana) and I have to say it turned out perfect. I havent seen anyone attempt this install on a MS3 yet, It took about 2 hours including cutting the vent apart and mounting the guage inside the vent peice, I used a desk gromet and shaved out the inside to make the 52mm gauge fit. I bought a new vent from my dealer, and used that for the project. I wanted to get the Defi guage but I didnt want to spend $380 right now, Im putting together my fmic this week so I was really in need for a boost gauge. The only complaint I have is it does get a little sun glare, not bad though.

If any questions feel free to ask, Im making this description somewhat breif because Im in a hurry to go out, and Im sure people will ask more than I will explain so Ill wait until the questions asked. ALSO if anyone would like me to make a vent feel free to PM, I could work out a whole unit if needed. Heres some pics!

Please no comments about how Im not going to be as cold or hot as I could be from my vent being blocked. ALSO I put a peice of plastic and foam in between the vent to block the air flow to the gauge for others that may be concerned about that. PLEASE ENJOY!

The Greddy gauge was suppose to be Red, instead its more of a dull orangish color, works great and matches pretty close, it matches really well when everythings off in the daytime.

And thank you Rotus8 for a little info on the interior panels! (breakn)

looks really incredible. how thick was the plastic that you put behind it? if your in ohio im guessing your going to be using your heater a lot and if the 3's heater is anything like the protege (which i assume it is) then that b**** gets hot. what about putting some insulation in there too? looks great, jsut would never recommend here in texas, too hot.

Very nice install, looks like a very visible gauge so glare shouldnt be a terrible problem. But arent you gonna miss the cool and warm left hand? Did you check to make sure you can purchase the vent ducting in the case that you decide to change locations?

As stated I purchased an extra vent to use for the instal, so the original one is sitting safely with all the other parts from the car.

Its funny because my gf told me if I take away her vent she'll kill me, I think shes serious lol.

I put a peice of thinner peice of plastic and a thicker factory style foam in between the vents, I couldnt put too much in there because then it wouldnt fasten together properly, but hot and cold should be fine. THANKS FOR THE COMPS!!!

ohhhhhh and the coolest thing is it spins like the vent does lol, so if you want to read the gauge upsidedown you can lol

I did this too my Mazda3. But I have the slim Innovate WB gauge in there so I was able to mold it more toward me.

Looks good. I found that a 2" (I think is was 2") PVC cap would cap off the vent perfectly and is easy to get out.

Im not a fan of that look.Im not sure why you would want to block that vent when there are gauge pods out there you could of used. The install looks good tho.

I agree with Shark. The vent was put there for a purpose. But the install is great. Looks like a factory install and is installed in a different place than the norm.

i like it and i usually drive with that damn thing closed cause i hate having one hand warmer/cooler then the other...

Thanks everyone, The reason I put it there is because I didnt want a cluster on the pillar, the center one imo is a little tacky unless you get the one thats completely molded, but I have no need for 3 gauges right now, and also with the center mounted one it looks like the guages arent in line, they look like their unevenly spaced, that would really bug me. Im lovin it though.....Interesting enough to see my car holds a solid 15psi in 2nd gear, which I thought they are limited to 10... Anyone else see that?

And I never have that vent open either, I just use the window and floor vents, I hate the feel of vents blowing on me directly, Im weird (lurk)

Clean install, wow! Im getting my greddy boost gauge this weekend, love the Spot you picked, I might have to copy that install!!

Looks like a professional install. I'd miss having that vent too much but if you can live without it then kudos!
