MAZDA3 5DR
Im a little confused i guess. The MS3 is the mazdaspeed3 correct ? Then what is the standard N/A 3..5-door. Ok but to my original question. Does anybody know of a performace chip for the m3-5door? If so can you please leave some links to helpful sites or give me any info. Thanks Brian.

"Chips' = bad. Not even worth your time to research them.

"Standard" Mazda3 5-door is the Mazda3 hatchback. Some people mistakenly refer to them as an 'M3' but that is wrong, it makes people think it's a BMW M3.

why is a chip so bad....This lil 3 of mine is a teard i can crap faster than this car will run in the 1/4 mi. My turbo pt cruiser was way better....i need some power, speed, somthing cheap, turbo up grade,chip...etc..my cruiser was runnin 13's id be lucky if this pig would do a 16. Does anybody else think a chip is waste of $ ? Or is it worth it open to all opinions.

Turbo it and put a standalone management system on it. You'll be good to go then

The 'chip' (in quotes because it isn't even a chip) is really just a 25 cent resistor that tricks the engine computer into thinking the air coming in is colder than it actually is. It is more likely to hurt performance and potentially cause damage than it is to make the car faster.

If you were looking for speed from a stock car you should have bought the Mazdaspeed3 which runs 13's stock. The N/A 3S runs mid-15's.

'Something cheap' to make boatloads of power simply does not exist...you need to pay to play.

The 'standard' upgrades for a N/A car start with intake, header, and exhaust.

I used to have a 2001 vw gti and u could purchase a "chip" for it to increase the horsepower by about 35 - 45 hp if i recall correctly. the chip was juts a computer program installed into the car's computer which raised the psi of the car's stock turbo. the price was around $500 and you could turn the program off for an inspection or something like that with the cruise controls.

i dont know if anything like that exists for the 3 (though i highly doubt anything remotely related to the computer could improve the performance of a non turboed car) or the speed3 but i'd be very happy if there was one for my speed3.

Cobb and Xede are both releasing programs for the speed 3 currently the only option for a NA 3 is a stand alone EMS, which will cost you around 1200. More power can be had from a NA 3 if timing is advanced. The speed 3 has shown 50whp gains with the XEDE, through leaning out the A/F ratio and advancing timing.

Nos is the most bang for the buck "mostly bang" and likely the only thing able to get a mz3 into the 13's stock.for less than 1000$ Or 1000lbs weight reduction and drag radials.

this thread is going way off topic... there is tons of info out there for upgrading your regular mazda3... it isn't going to be a barn burner unless you do a turbo upgrade... www.hiboost.com is great place to look for informtion on that. and yes a turbo cruiser would be faster then a n/a mazda3... not sure why your surprised by that.
